Active Autowerke vs Fabspeed Downpipe for S58

Deciding on a downpipe for my g87 soon and wondering if anyone feels strongly about AA or Fabspeed downpipe for the S58.

Rundown:
Both guarantee a no CEL (only 2 manufactures to currently do that I believe)
Both roughly the same price. (around 3k usd)
AA is 400 cell and Fabspeed is 200 cell.
Assuming both produce roughly the same hp increase but Fabspeed is the only one who have shown the numbers (roughly +15-20)
AA is epa registered whereas fabspeed is not so I'm assuming fabspeed prob won't pass emissions in 2 years?

Looking for best sound, not necessarily louder, to pair with full titanium exhaust from Valvetronic, which I love. Not sure if 200 cell difference will make that much of a difference in quality of sound or if the fabspeed will smell more?

I've heard the AA doesn't sound great on cold start but from the posts I've read stating that, the AA was paired with a stock exhaust. The cold start with the Valvetronic exhaust sounds amazing so wouldn't want to add something that hinders that.

Any experience with either of these products or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If both guarantee no cel then I would go with the lower cel count.

I had the active autowerke on my S58, and it sounded good.

If you are looking for the loudest downpipes with no CEL, go with fabspeed.

I recommend active because it gets the job done, it's less expensive, and it will sound as good as any other catted downpipe.

Thanks Mike! you actually responded to me on another thread that I thought was dead.

The only thing that worries me about fabspeed is that it might not pass emission here in Las Vegas so I'm leaning AA.

Lastly do you think I'll get more out of a jb4 with the lower cell count dp or is it probably negligible?

The power gains are the same, the GESI cats used in the active autowerke downpipes are rated at 850 whp

$3k for downpipes is kind of a lot of $$. Full AA exhaust set up is like $8k.

Would love to see Valvetronic downpipes and come in at $5k or less for a full exhaust.

yah, you're basically paying 2 to 2.5k more to not get a CEL and no or less smell.

To me, its worth it, but if you're looking to save cost and go loudest without caring about CEL and smell, valvetronic recommended VRSF or MAD dps.

Valvetronic don't offer downpipes.
if the CEL is not a concern, you can easily save ~2.5K by going with the MAD catted downpipes instead of Active Autowerke.

+1
if the CEL is not a concern, the MAD downpipes are the best value on the market.

I had the AA DP on my supra - it was great, no problems of the 1.5 years I had on it, passed emissions in PA no problem.
I can't speak for anything Fabspeed other that I took my supra there to get Dyno'd and it was an awesome warehouse to chill it. Water jets/lasers/etc going, it was really cool.

Had them on my S55 & S58 M4 as well, worked flawlessly

Redstar also sells a few DP options: catless, 200, and 400.

While they don't guarantee a No CEL, they seem pretty confident it won't trigger with the 200 and 400 for roughly the same price as AA and Fab... and you can purchase a O2 sensor spacer for the catless that will help not throw a CEL.

they also offer heat shielding option which I kind of like given the the DPs location in the engine bay.

We also offer PLM downpipes for EPA-approved cats. they don't guarantee any CEL but if it EPA approved, it should not trigger any codes.

its also a less expensive option so worth a try in my opinion

Just ordered the PLM dps from you Mike! Thanks for your help and advice. I'll circle back on the thread to let people know how it is once installed.

I was a bit worried a 400 cell dp might not be loud enough so at half the price of the AA, the PLM is the better trial option for me.

If its not exactly to my liking, I can just upgrade to a 200 cell. And I'll prob take my chances with the MAD as the fabspeed seems too raspy for me even thou they are currently the only 200 to guarantee a no CEL.

Do these have the epa stamp on them? My local county visually inspects the cats for the epa stamps.

You'll need to check with PLM directly, we just added this brand to our website, so I'm still getting to know it.

These are aliexpress specials, no markings whatsoever. Most items on their site are copies of other manufacturers.

FYI, I emailed them and they said that the cats DO have the epa stamp.

I’d be curious to see pics from anyone if they order it.

Saying it's EPA approved if it's not is a serious crime, so I'm confident they are telling the truth.

Now it needs to be tested to see how long it will last without the check engine light.

We are looking for a few brave souls
