2025 BMW M Flat Bottom Steering Wheel

With the LCI M4 getting a flat bottom steering wheel, is anyone feeling brave enough to try to swap them on the 23/24 M2s? Hopefully they'll be directly compatible, since the button layout seems identical and assuming the LCI M2 will also receive it.

I have an enquiry about this being made workable for the M2. An answer most likely tomorrow out of Munich.

Interim response: More tomorrow but the steering column is the same so theoretically should work.

It’s not a slam dunk upgrade for me. I like the skeletal details on the bottom spoke of the wheel but you lose the leather trim and for me with my driving position the round bottom doesn’t cause any issues as is anyway.

I believe on the G82 the heated steering wheel function now needs to be accessed via iDrive. The button on the wheel appears to be gone. If you wanted this wheel and heated functionality the issue might be not having a way to activate in iDrive.

Wasn't a fan of how CF looked on the current steering wheel in the G87, but it looks great on the new one.

Damn. Well, that might ruin my plans then since I have the heated steering wheel.

Am I not going to have a disconnected harness if there was a button and now there isn't?

Don’t know, guess you just have to wait for someone else to do it to know if it’s feasible.

Just took a look at the repair procedure to replace the steering wheel. It shows a separate plug for steering wheel heating and a main wiring harness. Theoretically you should be able to leave the plug for steering wheel heating unplugged when retrofitting the new wheel. The M Performance steering wheels for some models don't come with heated steering and can be installed on cars that had heated steering, but they lose the heating. Don't see why this would be any different with exception that you should still be able to turn on the heated steering from iDrive or via hey BMW. I'm sure someone of the forum or YouTube'r will figure this out soon.

Looks like RW carbon has the steering whee available. I’ve had great success with their products in the past. Looks like it may only be the auto version though

https://www.rwcarbon.com/bmw-g8x-lci...ing-wheel.html

So the MY2025 G87 will NOT be the LCI, correct? That'll be MY2026. Curious why BMW would be putting the 'LCI' wheel from the G80/G82 into a non-LCI G87. I mean we've all heard the rumors and seen the blocky pics. Are we sure it's not just going to be a leather-bound pre-LCI red-stripe offering in the MY2025 G87?
