240i rear bumper on 230i - is it possible?
I sold my 2007 335i (e92) and I got 2023 BMW 230i xdrive from an auction (g42, base bumper trim). The rear bumper is completely damaged.
Can I order M-Trim bumper kit from 240i and install it on my 230i? From what I can see at least on the online bmw dealer websites, these rear bumpers would fit. But nobody from actual dealerships was able to confirm that. Also what mods would you suggest to do in addition? For now I’m thinking about modifying exhaust tips and I wish to make more aggressive sound from it if it’s doable on my base model. I appreciate any feedback! |

The final issue left with exhaust tips. M240 has oval pipe. 230i has round pipe 2.5 inch diameter (63 mm). So dual exhaust tip from M240i is not compatible with 230i (already tried). Was not able to find a solution yet. All the universal 2.5 inlet dual exhaust tips are very long and stick out too much. Originally from the factory 230i comes with round pipes (for both regular and m-sport trims). That's why there's no really a seller who offers dual tips for 230i... I'll post this question on the forum and will see if somebody has any ideas |

I just saw that you also posted in another thread about the standard 230i searching for front lips and now I see you actually managed to swap the back bumper.
I recently bought a 1 year old 230i without m package and am kind of disappointed by the lack of available aerodynamics parts. The only one offering front lips for standard 230i seems to be Maxton (if you are still looking). But back on topic. Which parts did you need for your conversion of the back bumper? I might be interested as well but I am not sure if it's worth it (depending on the price). |

I decided to go for a conversion to dual tips and ordered the plastic pieces from the M240i. There aren’t really any single-to-dual exhaust tips available for the 230i because the pipe shape on the 230i is round, whereas on the 240i, it’s oval. I found and ordered valvetronic dual tips, but to install them, the original pipe has to be cut (it’s too long). So, I’ll be upgrading the exhaust system as well. If you’re okay with upgrading from the non-M Sport to the M Sport style for the 230i, the tips will remain single, and there’s no need to mess with the exhaust. However, I personally want to improve the sound, which is why I’m going for the dual tips and aftermarket exhaust. As for the front bumper, I had to replace it because another car scratched it. I ordered the M Sport style for the front, along with a Maxton splitter v.3. |

Thank you for the detailed response. I'm personally fine with just upgrading to m-sport style in the front and the back. I wouldn't want to touch the exhaust as this could become a nightmare getting it approved on German streets if it's not all original parts.
This is the first time modding my car so this is all new to me. Is switching front and back bumper fairly simple in this case? I'm having lots of trouble even finding parts for the G42 online. All I can find is for F22/23. But simply swapping it won't be enough anyways as I'll have to get it approved as well so my initial enthusiasm bogged down a lot. |

Once I got all plastic decorations delivered, it was not difficult installation for the rear. For the front I just received a bumper today and will be waiting the painting job to be done. For the front, the PDC sensors with 240i bumper style should be black though. I think it’s only one thing to have in mind. I’ll update this post once I finish installation. |

Here’s the measurements in inches of the stock exhaust. Seems like outlet is about 2.5 inch which is 63ish mm, maybe 64. But after the pin further away from the edge the diameter is less than that
