canDO Plus - 5min install DIY to add what BMW missed

Hey yall, I am really excited to share this new technology for the G model BMW.

One of the things that frustrated me about my car, is how the M1/M2 buttons didn't have the option to change the display to Road, Sport or even Track. I went looking for a solution, and found something that does far more than just that simple change!

The canDO Plus module is incredibly sophisticated for such a small package. This will allow you to associate dozens of possible triggers (button push, iDrive movement and more to dozens of actions.

This is just the VERY EASY install video, and will have the walk-through of the embedded wifi and web UI.

I would want one of these in every G model I owned, and they are working on F series development!

Programming is up next Thursday, and I am learning more every day. I am currently working on a trigger setup that would flip my interior lights color as well. As folks figure out more and more tricks, I could see a trigger list being built, step by step.

I have two G-series BMW’s in my garage - any pricing options when buying more than one device?

Is there a way to separate the “M1/M2” variable in two separate “M1” and “M2” variables?

Hi there,

we haven't done any testing on 8.5 yet. We hope to be able to make some progress on iD7 and 8.5 through the summer, no clear ETA yet.

Do you have a step by step guide to updating firmware? I tried but it doesn’t seem to update. Does it take a long time? I can connect to it with my MacBook over WiFi and I can start the update but it doesn’t seem to take. It doesn’t show when it’s completed. Thanks.

I was going to send you an email, but figure other users might come up with this issue so figured this would be a good place for the Q&A.

I coded the sport plus displays to trigger with the M1 & M2 buttons on, and then back to road with M1 & M2 buttons off. It was working, but when I shut the car off & started back up - programming was gone. I did hit save after I did the associations.

Thanks for your help!!

Hi!

Clearly not expected behaviour! Are you on >= 1.5.2?

When you hit "Save", is there a confirmation message?

I didnt get a confirmation message even though I his save twice. I figured since I didn't get one the second time, that was a normal thing.

I don't know the version I am on, so I am doing a firmware update as we speak. It's been going for 30 minutes & still not done - is that normal??
