Easy install to improve your M2 exhaust - Evolution Racewerks midpipe

As a perfect complement to the cross over pipe installation last week, next up is the Evolution Racewerks G87 midpipe release! This is a new product for ER and helps bring more attitude and volume to the rather tame G87 M2.

The installation itself is straight forward and something you can easily do yourself with a few simple tools. Check it out as ER brings a new option for exhaust changes for the M2!

Check it out!

This is great - this is the midpipe I have, along with the ER crossover pipe (missing the car at the moment).

This is my car. The exhaust sounds absolutely awesome. It's really tame in Comfort, sounds about one and a half times louder than stock in Sport, more burbles with a nice deep tone, and in Sport plus, you're waking up neighbors.

BMW DIY Guy I was a bit disappointed you skipped filming the very last step of putting the cross brace back on. ER Comp Midpipe is unique in the fact it doesn't ship with a new brace, with a lower cross-section. A few users have experienced tight tolerances (some touching/vibrating/rattling) with the stock brace and this particular ER midpipe. Do you recall how much clearance you had with the stock brace reinstalled? 1/2"? 3/4"?

Excellent vid BTW.

Actually very fair point and should have called that out more. There are 3 major pinch or touch points to watch out for, and likely shim. First is exactly the brace, and I used a plastic trim tool as a shim, though anything would work, with about 1/2 inch of clearance. The other two are the pipes at the differential, and shimmed from above to ensure they had about the same amount of clearance.

Nice video. Glad that you guys like how it sounds.
ER and I started the midpipe project when I had my X3MC in 2019.
From then on, we've been doing G8x M3/M4 then G87 M2.

BroDoze you've mentioned about few users are having fitment issue, do you mind sharing the links?

I helped ER in test fitting and some R&D since I get a lot of new BMW's customers.
And as I remember, clearance was good. Much better than other brands in the market where it still hit or rattle even with the provided lower brace.
IMHO, providing a lower sitting brace is not a good solution. I have installed many brands that comes with lower brace, and from what I see, there is a way to fix it while using factory brace. Just from manufacturing point of view, it is a lot more work and most probably will cost more than just stamping a new lower brace.

With ER midpipe, fitment may be tight, but you can always adjust it to create clearance without the need of pushing or denting in the heat shields.

If you guys have any question about it, feel free to hit me up. As I mentioned, I help ER with a lot of R&D, so I know quite a lot of the product.

^^ Thanks for the background and history on this awesome midpipe!

Here’s one owner very recently (looking for the other one I saw.) he admits he needs to readjust it.

Yea, saw his post.
Most likely something is loose or the clamp positioning is leaning against something.

Oh, those clamp need to be torqued to 45 lbs-ft.

FYI, here is the video of my X3MC. Same design of midpipe (H pipe). Sounds similar.

Thanks ^^

Car sounds freakin' awesome. This gon' be a LONG wait. Gonna have a massive car-part fort built all summer in anticipation.

Looking at DPs and really don't want to drop ~$3K on DPs. That's insanity money to not have a CEL.

Can I clear DP CELs with Bimmercode or any OBD2 code clearer? I know a JB4 can clear 'em. Not ready to go there yet, lol.

You need to clear with OBD2 scanner tool. But, there is another way to clear it. PM me.

Heads up though, with catless DP or Hi-Flow, it will be raspy.
