Watch the New Audi RS3 Break a Nurburgring Record

https://www.motor1.com/news/724055/2...rgring-record/

"Well, that didn't last long. Less than a year ago, BMW bragged about setting a record at the Green Hell for the fastest production car in the compact class. Piloted by Jorg Weidinger, the Bavarian coupe lapped the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 38.71 seconds. That record has now been rendered obsolete as the new Audi RS3 has managed to shave off more than five seconds."

"the 2025 RS3 completed the challenging course in 7 minutes and 33.12 seconds."

I'm selling my car! Jkk
I wonder what the MY25 M2 will do with more power and super car tires.

Could it be the tires? RS3 ran Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slicks, while the M2 did it's run with Cup 2.

My guess is that the BMW was still under the 1200 break in period and couldn't push it past 6K RPM's

"The team struggled through uncooperative weather during their practice sessions ahead of the attempt, which ensured they were unable to get a full lap under a timer before test day. Weidinger would also only get three cracks at the record on the day before the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires called it quits."

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a4...eife-ring-lap/

Aside from tires the RS3 also had the benefit of CCB.

If Audi gave me the option for a manual RS3 I’d never buy another car. I5 for life.

What makes you like the 5 cylinder more than the 6? And do you not mind the FWD?
I had a RS3 before my X3M. That motor is intoxicating and similar to the S58 can handle a lot albeit the S58 is much more stout, but still. Thinking about the warble of an I5 still gets my juices going. The S58 is a monster, but sounds like a vaccum cleaner compared to the I5. The front biased Haldex was somewhat of a letdown, but that motor. Did I mention the I5?!
I still fantasized about Audi making a baby R8 (which they were rumored be thinking about making) with a rear mounted I5 and gated manual. Man, that would have been such an awesome car!

Thanks for the feedback on the car. I like the idea of an RS3, but auto is a no go.
Totally agree! That was the peak car era, but I was too young to be a part of it. So many incredible options and, unfortunately, some unobtaineum too, at least in the US. *cough* B5 RS4 *cough*

This. I’m considering a RS3 but I need to quit VAG and try something completely different.

That engine soundtrack is aural intoxication. The thing with the RS3 is it can do 95% of that in the wet. Where is my AWD M2.

If they brought the hatch here I’d have one, same with a m3 touring.

I just watched the video. Did you see AUDI fixed what I think is the worst part of the 2024, that TACH racing TOWARDS you. The WORST! Now I see a circle in the middle. If true I may have to do the rs3
Look how weird at 1 minute

They better tire that bitch up cause Audi offers those trofeos on the order guide. Gloves are off.

This is a joke of an example…

Look closely and you will see a welded cage in the Audi - listed in one article as “chassis tuning”

The Audi had, in addition to the best rubber on the market, little things like “RS Adaptive Suspension and Carbon Ceramic Brakes 🤣

The M2, outside of rubber and a team of people to help make it happen was a stock car

Not saying this as a fanboy, but that’s not a 7:33 that’s representative of the way you will buy that Audi

Of course, neither matter because I can’t drive either of those cars the way these mad men pilot these things - WOW!

I don't know about y'all, but I actually don't have a problem with Audi giving their driver a cage in case something goes wrong at 100mph+

I'm simply wondering why the topic of an Audi got brought up in an M2 forum to begin with. LOL But I digress. Although I'm sure an inline-5 sounds great, the purr of an even more balanced & thoroughly messaged inline-6 sound more appealing to me when properly exhausted...

B5 RS4 should be legal to import in a few years....I myself am still dreaming about one day owning a Mk2 Golf Rallye, though a first gen S3 would be a close 2nd.

Suppose the M2 and RS3 are in the same class but drive so differently. Rear wheel drive vs front wheel drive based AWD bla bla bla...
RS3 is a great car with an amazing engine. If we can get the Avant it will be a no brainer. But hey, if we are going that way, I will take a M3t. XD

But the RS3 was never meant to compete with the M3 or M3T. That’s the job for the RS4. 70k vs 100k is a significant difference in price. The RS3 competes with the M2.
