M2 Bucket Seat Questions

Deciding if I should go with the bucket seats or not. Two main things are a must for me to go with them and I'm hoping those with the buckets on here can chime in:

1. Are the buckets adjustable up and down? My wife is short and need a seat that will raise up to be able to drive the car.

2. Do the buckets hinge in order to fold forward and allow easier access to the back seats? Looking to use the back seats a decent amount so easy access is key.

Would love to check them out, but no dealership around me has them on the lot.

Thanks!

Yes and yes. I have comfort seats but I believe they adjust similarly. One of the perk to have the “adjustable” bucket seat.

They are very nice and adjustable. Only reason I didn’t get them was because I knew how much of a pain it is getting over that side thigh bolster from the 911. The regular seats are very nice and supportive. They are also no additional cost.

How do they compared comfort wise to the 911 buckets? I had buckets in my 991.2 GT3RS and I think they're the most comfortable I've been in so far.

They are actually nicer IMO. You have more adjustability and even heated. Porsche should have done their seat the same way although I know they will say “but ze weight increase”. I should add the only odd thing is the notch in the middle of the seat. No biggie if you have an auto but could be a slight issue with a manual

So true 🤣 good to know! Didn't even think about heated seats in a bucket.

Buy the buckets, then decide you don't want them and trade them for my standard seats plus $5. Win win! 😂

The Porsche race buckets suck worse, comfort wise. They are a true factory racing bucket.

Do what I did, find the nearest car for sale with carbon buckets and go sit in the seat until you've made up your mind lmao.

As to the G87 buckets, they are adjustable but definitely do not raise to the height of the sport/standard seats. They naturally sit lower.

It’s easier to find G80s & G82s with buckets. Same buckets.

It's a crap shoot. Some people find the buckets comfortable, some find it excruciating. Depends on the size of your hips, length of your upper legs, and a million other things.

And for MT drivers, that center bolster annoys some, and is a non-issue for others.

(Me personally, I can't stand the bucket seats.)

There's just no way to know. Agree with the above that you should go find an M3 with buckets and try it out. Only way to be sure.

Attended dealership last Wednesday and sat in a new M3 CS with the carbon buckets. My observations may assist you, the seats make entering the car somewhat difficult, the carbon crotch thing I found to be uncomfortably located, alighting from the seat was even more difficult due to the side bolsters. There would be no way a petite lady could leave the car with her dignity intact. The one saving grace is at 155lbs I found the seat otherwise comfortable (minus the crotch thing). The standard sport seats may save your marriage.

I thought they were cool & probably would have ordered them, but thankfully I met up with another owner randomly to sell something & his car had the buckets. If you have large thighs (like I do), they're a no go. That test sit saved me a lot of money & a lot of uncomfortableness.

6 foot 215lbs athletic build big legs workout everyday. I fit like a glove in these suckers. They make this car whole imo.

I have a 6MT- does not affect heel toe. I don’t even know the nut sack holdster is there half the time.

Got to sit in M4 buckets at a local dealer today. I liked them. A/B'd them with M2 normal seats and it's night and day. I'll be tracking the car 25% of the time at least so I'll definitely be going buckets. Thanks for the feedback everyone!
