To those who have broken in your m2s, what does your clutch feel like?

Just trying to get an idea of what I should be feeling. I’ve posted before and some possible weirdness in my clutch feel. It’s still perfectly usable, but if I’m paying this much for a car I want it to feel perfect you know?

What is it exactly that doesn’t feel right? I have about 400 miles on mine and the clutch feels pretty good. Pretty springy at the catch point but I have started to get used to it.

The springy part is definitely still there unchanged. I feel vibration through the pedal in first or reverse unless I’m right at the bite point. Tends to be worse when the car is cold. Lately there’s also been an odd feeling throughout the travel of the pedal, a slight grittiness? Almost like sand. It’s kinda subtle and it’s not always there.

Normal with this car. There’s no fluff or padding in the clutch, it’s a bit raw. You may get chatter if not enough gas or vibration with higher rpm’s. That grittiness is normal with the car especially downshifting at higher rpm’s. I questioned the same thing and got the chance to drive multiple G87’s besides mine that all felt the same.

Ask your dealer if you could test drive another G87 manual; that way you have a point of comparison.

I’ve had no change in feeling of my clutch pedal over 5,000kms now, and it feels smooth and gives the perfect feedback

My M2's clutch feels like....like a clutch.

Really no difference of any note from a number of other cars equipped with manual gear boxes I've owned.

The clutch is very easy to get just the right amount of engagement to -- for instance -- to back the car into a garage nice and slow.

I just ease the clutch out smoothly until I feel it start to engage and with no throttle I can back the car in.

For driving I really don't think about the clutch. It does what it is supposed to do.

If there are any problems -- and so far they have been rare -- it is because I was sloppy with the clutch.

I'd have to rate the M2 clutch as perfect.

Not sure about the weirdness you are reporting. The vibration and grittiness (!?) are not what I have experienced with my M2's clutch or any other clutch.

Now with another car I did experience problems that were clutch related.

At some point I was not able to get the car moving from a dead stop smoothly no matter how hard I tried. And along with this smooth shifting was a memory. This behavior was quite contrary to what I had experienced over 250K miles.

Long story short had the car in and was notified the brake/clutch hydraulic systems fluid service was overdue. Had the fluid service done and after the clutch was once again easy to engage and get the car moving from a dead stop smoothly. Shifting was also once again smooth.

I can't know the severity of the symptoms you are experiencing but they are in my experience not normal. So I would advise you to have the car in and have a tech experience the behavior and find out what his take is on the clutch.
