Big project, lots of photos. A complex M2 upgrade journey.
Along the years, we had all sorts of customers, with all types of preferences, and time and time again it results in two camps.
There are those who like to enjoy a slow process of transforming their ride, and then there are those who like to go all in. Today, we'll explore the case of a G87 M2 owner who has taken the latter route, upgrading various aspects of the car - from its exterior, performance, to the interior. On the exterior, we got a full carbon fiber aero kit from ADRO (can't recommend them enough), namely front lip, side skirts, and rear spoiler. To complement that, they're added M Performance carbon air ducts, side mirror caps, an AK caron fiber wing, an AC Schnitzer front splitter, and a TRE carbon fiber grille. The headlights have been graced with a race-inspired yellow LED module, and the emblems got swapped with the 50th anniversary versions. When it comes to performance, the car now sports an m Carbon ceramic brake kit, a set of 963Ms 19" on the front and 20" for the rear, an M Performance lowering suspension kit, CSL strut brace, and an AK titanium exhaust. Let's not forget the interior, where we incorporated a carbon fiber M Performance trim to go with the Alcantara-wrapped steering. Additionally, we've added protective elements, such as a stone chip guard, a carbon fiber oil cap, a TRE underbody shield, and an Acexxon front lip protector, as well as a full-body PPF (Paint Protection Film) wrap, ensuring the car's pristine condition. Performance and weight reduction in one shot, has turned this baby into the mitochondria of cars, upgraded to the finest detail inside and out. This is another proud iCARMIX project, and I'm happy to share it. https://icarmix.com/?s=BMW+G87&post_type=product |

If I had that kind of cash (and had the automatic), I definitely would have also installed the Eventuri intake and tuning box by Areeve. Throw in the Alpha-N carbon fiber hood and trunk for good measure.

1. Hates Porsche. 2. Hates the M4 CSL and or the M3CS. 3. Hates waiting for the upcoming M2CS with likely 85% of this from factory. I’m all for upgrades but the carbon ceramics sent me |

Cool project! While I generally enjoy the process of upgrading/personalizing, I think I’m more closely aligned to the all in bucket! Albeit that my “all in” definition is a little different these days!

While that G87 in general is not for me, the carbon brakes are the only "over the top" item that are not 100% sensible for everyday street driving.
Yes, the AK exhaust and wing are very pricey but the Alpha hood, fenders, wing, diffuser, etc. are just as bad, and members have installed them without negative comments. Compare to an M4 anything, nope. Any G82 is hideous and would never spend a penny on one. Compare this to P car...I wouldn't get a 718, period. To a new 911, would have to be a turbo. After adding options and paint color, and wait for allocation, build and delivery, that G87 is still cheaper (abd some may not even want a P car). Also, to add...for me, I would still mod the 911 so the cost would be well over that G87. Just saying... |

So, knowing a new one of those will always be out of reach (especially now), what’s the next closest German small turbo coupe (that’s not a VAG product?) Hmmmmm…. If the H82 was full gas and fixed the buck-tooth grin, that could be an option. But they gonna ruin it like they did the M5. 4,500lb+ M4s here we come!

I think the end game is a showpiece, these are expensive upgrades and seems like someone threw a fistful of cash at it to make it different. Not judging here at all, certainly more power to the owner.
However, I would be hard-pressed to see this puppy go beyond 3rd gear if stayed local to HKG. |

GT2/3 are and always have been 911’s. Am I missing something here? If not, and you think a GT2 isn’t a supercar. I’m curious what your definition of a supercar is?

Yes, GT2/3 are 911s but not in supercar class. The Carrera GT, GT2RS and GT3RS, yes. While I suppose it could be argued as to the true definition of Supercar, I have always known it and seen touted as the best ir the best, most elite by certain manufacturers (not all McLarens, Ferrari, Lambos etc are supercars but the best of those manufacturers, yes....and throw in Bugatti and I guess the Maserati MC20). Sorry team USA...no supercars IMO. Last edited by M_Power Rob; 07-06-2024 at 05:12 PM.. |

Truth. I always factor that in when I buy a car. If I went Porsche, it’d be a 718s and the $90k would clean me out. No mod money to speak of. $70k m2 I can do some fun stuff to it. |

Disagree about the 718, 718’s are great cars and I could see wanting say a 718 GTS 4.0 over a base 911 Carrera for instance, and then you also have the 718 Cayman GT4 RS which if you can afford that you can certainly also afford a good portion of the 911 range if you wanted.
