70% "clear" tint on windshield, is it hard to see on totally dark interstates?

asking this for a member of my family who has a 2022 230i. the car currently has 50% ceramic tint all around. The windshield is not tinted.

She is thinking of getting 70% "clear" tint on windshield. Xpel prime XR-Plus. The two shops in the area quoted her $250 and $300. I'll be paying.

is it hard to see through that 70% tint on totally dark interstates? I mean really, really dark.. no lights on the road and there are no houses or any other building on either side. Even the exit ramps on the interstate has no lights in this rural area.

in my experience, I've had the same XR plus 70% tint on two previous cars. Strangely, it was fine on one car, but not so much on the other. I think it was due to the steep angle of the windshield on the second one. It reflected the lights from the dashboard in such a way that the drive ended up having to try to see through the tint film at night.

Just wondering if anyone with a 230i/240i has any experience with this. Thanks in advance!

Based on Google Search, it's illegal to tent it below the AS-1 line, which is that strip that extends from the top of the windshield to about 5 inches below.

I have 70% XPEL on the front windshield of my M240i. I have not had any issues driving at night with no lights around in total darkness. I haven't noticed any annoying reflections, and I'm typically pretty in-tune with that. I hate glossy interior bits that reflect sunlight.

Based on a quick Google Search, it's also illegal to speed

Op mentioned he's done this on 2 previous cars, so I'm assuming he's aware of the laws surrounding this. At the same time, tinting the front windshield makes a huge difference in comfort level in the car, especially in areas where it's hot and sunny.

I have either 60 or 70% ceramic on the windshield.

It is almost the same as completely clear. You would never even know it's there.

Just make sure her tinter uses a good brand ceramic tint

Yeah, I guess if your driving it helps. Don't have a 2-series, but my current car is an electric blue coupe with black interior and I have a custom fit sunshade for when it's parked. I live in Kansas City, MO where it's currently sunny and 90's. Guess I never saw a reason to tint the windshield since I have AC and tinted 35/20 windows already.

I've always used xpel Prime XR Plus... I assume that's a good and decent brand? (but I'm open to other suggestions if there are better ones out there) Thanks!

70% isn't dark enough to affect night driving. I believe ceramic can reduce glare from headlights at night.

I have 70% on my windshield and it’s completely clear. Totally worth protecting the interior finishes a bit
