creaking noise when stopped with brakes on

i noticed that when i'm stopped at the lights and full on the foot brake, there is a creaking noise. It comes on about a second or two after the brake is engaged, and it lasts about 2 seconds then is gone.

Anybody else observe the same?

i've never had brakes creak while the car is already at a complete stop.and the foot brake is fully engaged.

I'm guessing this is auto variant since you are in Asia? If you engaged parking brakes while the car was wet, it could be rust doing its thing when auto-holding your car at a stop.

Yes, mines the auto version. i already disabled auto hold. i did wonder if this is normal for the brake by wire setup. The noise is almost like the brakes are being "tightened", if that makes sense. I was thinking if its just normal for the brakes to prep for auto hold, regardless if its activated.

I have the same thing too!!!

When you come to a stop and you press the brake it sounds like it’s tightening. It soo weird. It goes away if you press harder. Idk how to fix this.

I swapped my pads and thought it’s cause of that but sounds like u have the same issue too

i tried increasing the pressure on the brakes, but the tightening sound is still there.

I dont have auto Hold turned on, but i noticed the noise comes when it is activated too. Perhaps the system automatically primes the brakes for auto hold once it detects youre at a complete stop.

I'm going in for my break in service soon, but I doubt the service techs have an answer besides "its normal" or "we didn't detect any issues with the brakes."

Interesting. I never thought about the auto hold feature. I honestly have no idea how to fix it

i'm gonna assume its normal since we both noticed it in our cars...

I also noticed from a complete stop, the car takes a moment when the brake is released (not stepping on the gas pedal) before it inches forward.

*correction*
the hesitation i noticed is more when i'm on a slope. on flat ground, it moves off fine.

I haven’t noticed that. I have my auto hold off

i tried this again after your note, and you're right - if i step on the brakes really hard the sound doesn't occur.

i'll see if i can try a test unit and observe what happens, but i'm guessing this is inherent in the system.
