Loving my transition to iSweep 1500.
Spend time driving not cleaning. YMMV |

^^Random.
On topic, I ordered a set of the reds from XPH yesterday and they shipped today. I like the bite and feel of the stock pads, but like everyone, the orange dust coating after a few stops on my black 827M’s is next level. |

What is the difference between the EBC Reds and the iSweep 1500s? Does one bite harder on initial contact? I know both dust less than stock so I imagine it is a wash in that department.

The video focuses on comparing stock brakes with EBC Red pads; it doesn't mention competition brakes. I'd prefer to keep the discussion on this topic and not derail the thread. There are already plenty of threads discussing EBC, Isweep, and other brands.

Installed the EBC Red pads front/rear today.
Using BimmerLink to activate service mode for the e-brake made it a 2 minute job per side for the rears. It took me more time getting the car in the air than swapping pads. The fronts were a different story. EBC's front pad height is millimeters taller than stock and what the Brembo calipers will accept. They *could* be jammed in with a lot of force and a rubber mallet, but that seems like an extremely bad idea to have a significant friction point for the pad movement on the top of the bottom where it interfaces with the caliper when you're relying on that movement to allow the pistons to push the pads into the rotors. To play it safe, I needed to use a grinder to carefully shave off a few mm's from the top and bottom of the pad surround to allow it to seat into the caliper properly without having to jam it in. See the yellow boxed area in the attached photo for the area top/bottom that needed to be shaved down. By creating this extra room, it also allowed the retaining pins to be inserted freely as otherwise, the pads were so jammed there was no movement to allow the pins to go through. So that's my install feedback - for what they cost, it should be plug and play, and not a project. Really not impressed with EBC for that alone and wouldn't recommend them based on my experience. Not sure if I got a bad set, but it seems unusual as all 4 front pads had the same interference issue so I'm going to conclude EBC's measurements are a touch off for the G87 M2 calipers. I have yet to bed them in and get some feel/bite/dust feedback, but that'll be next. |

It is a great How-To vide for actually doing the pad change out. Just hoping to get some comparison data to go along with it.

All 4 front pads had the same issue, and all needed to be shaved down to fit the front calipers. Otherwise, the fit was so tight (ie. the interference between the pad and caliper was so great) that I was worried about braking performance. I’m not a newb either - have been swapping street and race pads on my cars for years, all 4- or 6-piston big brake kits - so I’m not seeing user error being the issue here. They simply just didn’t fit. |

Too many years of being an engineer….ive never “not needed data for that.” 😀. I understand your point completely though….always just nice to see actual test results (“Butt dynos” vs. actual dyno runs for example).

The back of the reds appear to be stamped with "GG" as seen in the video posted here: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2107900
If that's true, it may be a worthwhile trade-off vs the isweeps which produce less dust, but have a lower rating(from the diagrams they list on their site). |

maybe it's just a coincidence that GG is in this picture and it's a part number or something? I'm not sure if it would be identified in a different way if it was the friction rating.
