Screen Protector?
Any of you running a screen protector? Any advice / experience?
I think paying $175 for the Studie kit is nonsense. Thinking more like a $39 Amazon thing. Anybody using matte? Looking at this: https://www.amazon.com/Artemis-Shiel...s%2C142&sr=8-1 I cannot imagine how infuriating the install will be. Just replacing the screen protector on my phone is irritating enough. I cannot tolerate a single bubble or dust particle, no matter how small. Wondering if the partial unit would be better as the install would be significantly easier / more chance of success.

I long for the days when we didn’t need extra large screen protectors. I would literally pay more just to have a dash like this in my G series
Give me an S58 with a BMW 1M dash and analog gauge cluster I’d be so happy. |

To protect from>? Ive had multiple BMWs with a 'screen'. Never an issue or even a scratch. Clean per the common sense book. Its only finger prints etc. Save the money for something else.

All screens are not created equal. I wasn’t sure how delicate the G87 screen is to scratches. I’ve got other cars with screens that scratch if you fart near them.
Did BMW do a solid a put an anti-scratch coating on them or something? If so, that’s great news.

Did they spray water all over in the interior installing it? Any bubbles or streaking of the adhesive? How is the capacitive touch performance through the PPF?

I bought a two piece that someone else recommended in the forum. I like it a lot especially considering the screen is plastic and probably gets micro scratches over time from touching and cleaning. The main gauge cluster area you obviously don’t really touch but the interactive side I was most concerned about. I’ll try to find the link.

I would imagine water was used but I was in a waiting area. Absolutely no bubbles, you wouldn’t notice there was a film on it. Touch is exactly the same. I will say that it’s more reflective, meaning I can see the bottom of my face through the wheel but it doesn’t seem to affect the clarity of the display if that makes sense.

I agree. I primarily use the rotary dial anyway vs touching the screen for anything.

I ordered one off aliexpress. It's a tempered glass screen protector and it came in 2 pieces. Assuming it wouldn't be possible with the curvature and length of trying to cover both screens with one piece of flat tempered glass.
Another poster in a thread has good photos: https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8&postcount=16 Like you mentioned how infuriating it is installing one for your phone, you'll probably be prone to catching some micro-lint or dust during install. You could always remove and go commando if you screw it up to where you can't accept it.

I installed a single glass screen protector on my i4. It was pretty quick. I pulled the factory protector off and put the glass on, no issues
I've done two more for friend's cars because I bought 3. The others required me cleaning the screen, but no big deal.
