Coolwater's 2024 Blue on Black M240i Xdrive

Hi all, new G42 owner here. Swapped from a 2024 RS3 sedan. Was looking for a 2dr to do some light modding. Will add more pics when I get a chance to break her in. Fan of blue cars. 😀

RS3 was a fun car for sure. Looking forward to some B58 mods.

I’ve heard a CAI is a waste and just go with a upgrade drop in filter. Any recommendations? K&N or something else?

I went with a K&N. They've been doing this so long I don't see how others would be better.

That’s what I figured. How do you like it? Feel any difference? Maybe a little bit more responsive?

I can't really comment on performance. Never really tested the "before" filter. I doubt you'd feel any difference. For me, the filter represents the first step on the mod journey

Alright so first couple of cosmetic mods.
Added Suntek CXP 35% tint all around.
Blacked out the front reflectors.

This color is amazing and changes with lighting.

lol yeah I’m going to upgrade the tire setup at least. I think I can put 245 35 up front and re-use my 255 35 from previous car. I’m against running spacers but who knows. I never thought I’d be in a G42 either..

Nice car.
The exhaust pipes look great.
And also your license plate holder in CF.

Looks great!

Also love the blue of the RS3. How does the G42 compare overall? Specifically in terms of driving performance.

Thanks! Well the RS3 is more track ready and handles amazing. It’s also a 10sec car with just the jb4 tune,e85 mix and intake. The DCT was at times clunky and not 100% predictable when it would shift. I will say the brakes were significantly better on the RS3. 6 piston and drilled. I am still getting a feel for the g42, but I think with a proper suspension and wheel/tire setup it could improve the gap. Plus I plan to add more performance mods like catted downpipe, tuner and intake. Hybrid turbo also at some point.

Couple of parking garage shots. Will be looking at carbon spoiler soon. New wheels are coming in a couple weeks. Getting custom machined for the car. Going with 19x9.5 et22 all around. Might be a tight fit in front, but I’ve seen et20 and et25 fit so it should be good being right in the middle of the range.

Definitely notice the wide hips of the car in these photos.

New wheels are here waiting to be mounted. It’s aggressive so we’ll see if they poke. 19x9.5 et22.

Got the new wheels mounted. Much thanks to brandon@VMR Wheels for the awesome setup. The V710 is one of my all time favorite wheels. These are the v710ff in matte gunmetal - 19x9.5 et22. 255/35 square setup. Plenty of brake clearance and flush fit. Doesn’t look like I’ll rub at all.

Yeah the car was still settling from being lifted. It’s settled down now.. I took the previous photos right after the mobile tire guy left.
