Software Update 07/2024.30 Released

Everybody else see this in their app?

This is my first update since taking delivery of my G87 a couple weeks ago, so I'm a little hesitant to have it run the update this time of day with how hot it is out right now where I live.

Will keep searching to see how stable this is but figured I'd post since I noticed the new release this afternoon.

I installed it this morning. Don't notice any changes yet (good or bad).

Very curious if folks know what changed. The "What's New" was not helpful.

Yeah I installed it - a bit nerve wracking wondering if my computer is going to get bricked, but it finished with success. Don't see any differences and the notes didn't say squat...

I got the notification in car and in app as well today. I am searching trying to find out what is included but I haven't found anything yet.

I love that they forgot to update their placeholder copy, and the summary just says “Notes on the update” lol

I think I saw somewhere that the HUD might have been updated?

Oooo the one that was available when I bought has it so I’ll report back tomorrow if I notice anything different. Hoping they add something a bit more useful up there haha

Too bad you can’t decouple the views or customize them. I could do that on my 2017 Corvette. It doesn’t make the car bad but would certainly allow for deeper personalization.

Definitely one of my tiny complaints about this BMW. I also wish it would be able to stay in sport mode as well as retain the M mode selection from the steering wheel when I last shut the car off…you’d think they’d tie that to the key to attach to your BMW ID.

I did just figure out you can move around the trapezoid shaped “slides” on the default screen you see after startup. This is one of those software systems I’m finding is easier to figure out on my own over time though.

What do you mean you can move them around? I know you can scroll around and change the middle one from map to tire pressure and a few other things but I didn’t know they could move?

Lately these software updates seem to take away more than they give. I was hoping the idrive 8 climate menu would improve.

You can tap and hold to drag the tiles left and right, thus changing the ordering.

This is a basic OTA update.

Installed a day or two ago when I got the notification, zero functionality changes noticed so far.

Any coding changes revert back to stock/factory, and your M1/M2 settings reset to factory as well.

So install if (a) you don’t care and want the latest software; or (b) you don’t care and are fine redoing your coding changes.

If you have substantial and or paid for coding changes, think twice about updating. If you’re DME unlocked, run the other way. Otherwise, have at it.

Did the update undo / disable the remote start setting, as previous updates have?

It really is unfortunate all of the factory configurable settings get lost on these updates. I can understand if custom-coding gets lost, but M-settings and other stuff? That’s kind of a major PITA oversight from a luxury brand.

Can anyone confirm whether recent updates force Auto Start/Stop on every time you start the car?

Haven't updated the software in a while, I wouldn't want to have to always disable it...
