Need suggestions
Hello ,
I wanted to know which one should I pick to buy - bmw m2 or bmw 3m40i or bmw x3m40i. I know these three cars are way apart from each other but I still need your inputs, I was also looking at the x5 lci. Comming to challenges and problems and the level of confusion I have going on my mind. The place that I live have huge bumps , I live with my family so it maybe so sometimes that I would want to go out with them or they would want to take the car with the driver. I'm 6'3 feet tall. I have been a driver and car enthusiast since I was 14 year old and have driven and owned over 15 cars including Chevy, kia , tata , toyota , maruti. This one I would want specialy for me but thank my wife. If I talk about numbers out in my country the x3m40i is 4.8 seconds , m340i is 4.6 seconds m2 is 4.0 seconds. I was also was eyeing on amg a45 plus but the fact that ground clearance is non existent was a clear no for me , and the glc amg with the price increase with only 4 cylinder and because of the coupe design I'm uncertain if I'll be able to sit in the back seat. Kindly help me out here. With thanks Please suggest y |

I would most likely lean towards the M340, to keep your family on talking terms. I'm 5'10" and the leg room behind my M2 driving position is extremely limited, at 6'3" it would be all but non-existent. The M2 is an extremely capable empty nester car (like myself) or that second car (like myself). All in all, the M340 remains a very capable and affordable M3 (lite) that will no doubt keep the driving enthusiast part of the equation intact.

I own both an M2 and X3 M40i. I honestly love both vehicles, but they serve different use-cases.
The X3 is actually better around town with all the low down torque of the B58 engine. And it’s easy to pop the kids in the back seat and toss some stuff in the trunk. Also fits 4 adults fine. Great family car, and still lots of fun to drive. The M2 is a ton of fun if you are able to let it rip, with a ton of power at higher RPMs. And you’ll feel the lower center of gravity and lighter weight in any hard driving. I can fit my toddler and baby in the back, both in car seats, but it’s tight, and a bit of an acrobatic show if I have both with me. My wife actually fits in the back seat behind the driver seat fine, but I’m 5’8” and she’s 5’3”. So two short adults. Given your height, as others mentioned, if you plan to carry more than 1 other passenger with any sort of frequency or any longer stretch, you probably shouldn’t get the M2. It’s just not going to be comfortable for your rear seat passengers. And the X3 M40i is still a great vehicle. Also what do you mean by “huge” bumps? My M2 is lowered and I have a splitter, but anything more than a mild speed bump and I’ll scrape. If you don’t lower it’s better, but “huge” bumps may push you to an X3 as well. |

Beautiful photos!
And I recently went though debating a M340/M440 GC or an M2 and ended up going with 340 as it would be my only car and I felt was giving up too much functionality with just M2. M340/440GC both felt fast enough for everyday driving. Wanted a specific set of options so also looked at x3 m40s as they had more stock. I felt x3 drove much better than expected and would have considered as well if price was cheap enough Last edited by Judge8; 09-10-2024 at 07:30 PM.. |

The picture of the M2 is just breathtakingly beautiful mate
Regarding the OP - I'm assuming you're in India..? I spent three years in Mumbai; I wouldn't go for the M2 but rather for something more comfortable as you have mentioned..! Cheers

I have 3 pre-teen kids and bought an M2. No regrets, and it's my only car. It's perfectly comfortable for 4 people under about 5'10". At 6'3" you will have problems with legroom behind you.
Kids in the back seat get leather, a nice sound system, and climate vents. It's a heck of a lot nicer than the shit boxes I grew up riding in the back of. Plus they get to ride in an M2. At your height, space will be a concern though. I would try to find one to sit in, any 2-series works. |
