M2 and M3 carbon buckets are they the same?

I will be getting a M2 late this year. But i don't like the Black carbon buckets so much, so I want to switch it out with Fiona Red Carbon buckets from M3. Will they be direct swap or they look same but not identical?

Please advise.

M2 / M4 are identical.. M3 are different ( not Foldable due to 2 more Doors installed at M3)

Good point, I forgot that M3/4 would be different because M4 like M2 need to fold.

Related question:

I want to swap 2023 M4 ventilated seats into a 2025 M2.

I think the bolt pattern is this same and although I haven’t confirmed it yet, the wiring harness looks identical.

If the ventilated fit in the M2 with airbag and power seat functions working, I could easily rig a switch for the ventilation fans.

Anyone know if the swap would work?

i believe it will not work.. cause ventilation is operated by seatmodule ... module needs input for ventilation from headunit... lots of coding will be needed....

One thing worth noting is the light that's present under the comfort seats that isn't present on the carbon bucket seats.

If planning to do the swap, either that module needs to be swapped over, or the light needs to be coded out with protool.

Kies Motorsports just made a video on this recently.

So the coding is something I'm not concerned with. There would be no interaction with the touch screen display or dash mounted controls.

I could easily wire up a small switch for the fans.

I'm curious if the bolt pattern for the seats are identical, if the wiring harness is identical (for the purpose of the power seats and airbags functioning properly).

The M4/M2 swap will work.
You probably won't have the harness for the ventilation.

The other features should be the same and yes, the seat rails will be the same.

I'm in the process of an X4M seats swap to my i4 M50. The US i4 does not have M-Spoet seats as an option like Europe.

As long as the features are the same you should be okay.

You will need ISTA to recode the passenger occupancy to the car. Not sure if swapping the unit will work because it gets calibrated to the mat in the seat. I just did that.

Also pay attention inside the yellow connector that both seats have the same pins. If you check the seat module, position 6 I'm pretty sure is for ventilation.

Anyway, you will need ISTA for some fuctions,. Then you will need BimmerUtility to code the new seats (VO Code with CAFD injection).

Anyway it's doeable.

You need a T50 and a 10 mm to disconnect the battery. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SWAP WITH BATTERY CONNECTED!!!!

Cover your console and door sills with towels or something. Best way to get the seats out is tilt them back the rotate the bottom cushion toward the door and swivel them out laying on their sides.

Good luck.
