If I bought an aftermarket hood, do you think I could sell my OEM hood? Would anyone
I want to buy an alpha N hood, however they are very expensive for something that technically is already there.
However if I coild sell my OEM hood once the new one is on, that would financially make the whole thing make a lot more sense. What do you guys do with your original when you get aftermarket hoods? Do people sell the OEM? Is there even a market for them? What kind of price could I get for one? |

Depends on how long you're planning to keep the car. You're not going to get your money back on the aftermarket hood if you sell the car with it on. It's always better to put cars back to stock when selling & sell off the aftermarket parts.
I've replaced hoods on several vehicles and made the mistake of selling the stock hoods. On my previous Corvette I was able to secure a highly desired oem carbon fiber hood for $2400 plus $450 to paint, so $2900 out-of-pocket. Didn't think I was going to sell the Corvette so sold the stock hood for $450. Ended up selling that Corvette & was fortunate to find another owner nearby with the same year & color Corvette that wanted the hood. Ended up selling to him for $1500 plus his stock hood. So I lost a little on that deal, whereas if I kept my stock hood I could've easily sold the oem cf hood for $3-4k. I've finally learned my lesson after 43 cars, and keep most stock parts up in my garage attic

I would keep the oem, and sell the aftermarket hood when you decide to sell the car. It’s such an easy part to turn back to stock. I’m sure you’ll get more from selling the aftermarket hood on the side.

No one wants OEM parts u less they sold their stuff or damaged their OEM parts.
Put it in the garage and let it collect dust like everyone else. Unless you sell the car to someone who will pay for the mods done you'll lose out in selling the hood for more value. Repeat. No one wants your OEM parts unless you got carbon buckets or some special option pieces and it would be cheaper than trying to find new or aftermarket. |
