Water in speaker binder seat
So the girlfriend managed to spill about 400ml of water on the floor. Some went on the floor mat but seems some has mad it to the rear of the car via the railing where the seat is held on.
Noticed some water in the speaker grille under the car. It’s Sunday so dealers shut and I’m flying for work tomorrow for 3 days. Is there anything under this part of the car that will get damaged (besides speaker) if water is there and is there any drainage in that area? Last edited by Evilmoretea; 10-06-2024 at 08:14 AM.. |

There is likely to be a few wires in that area but other than that it's just the speaker. Very simple to replace yourself if the speaker has stopped working.

The connectors are apparently sealed. But still. Don’t want it going mouldy or getting somewhere else. Wondering if there’s drainage. Looking at taking it to dealer tomorrow but paying hundreds in labour 😭😭 |

The speaker cutout seems to just be a hole in the floor housing the speaker with nothing else nearby. Wondering if there is a few mm of water in that can it drain out? |

It should evaporate pretty quickly. I would imagine the materials are all plastic / rubber, nothing absorbent. Like boat speakers must be. But I’m assuming…

It's dead easy to get the speaker out, lift the seat up and undo the four bolts, you can rock it back without disconnecting the cables. Then undo the grill over the speaker, then the bolts that hold the speaker in. You can then mop up any spilt water. It will look like this |

Do you have a garage and a fan? You could leave the door open and have a fan blowing across the floor. It’ll evaporate quicker.

Ah yeah English slang. “The action of obtaining something through persuasion”
I found another dealer selling the M Perf spoiler on eBay for £340 but didn’t do much to check how authentic that was. Called my dealer while the car was there. They said they would price match and reduce the labour cost without even double checking haha Helped they had a spoiler sat on the shelf |
