Lowest/Widest suspension setup without rubbing?
Hi guys,
Recently took delivery of my G87 in August and looking at fixing the awful suspension setup by fitting some lowering springs/spacers, once the run-in service is done Seen quite a few posts/vids mentioning the rubbing issue on the G8x cars so I wanted to see what people have experienced on how low/wide they’ve gone with the springs/spacers. Ideally want to fix the arch gap without having to mess around with the wheel liners. Would prefer to just fit spacers if possible but I’ve read lowering can also help with the clearance I’m running the usual 930M’s with Pirelli PZero’s from factory. New to the forum stuff, I tried to have a look at other posts but couldn’t really find a definitive answer. Appreciate any advice/help!

Spacers are really more of a temp fix until oem wheels are replaced with lighter and proper offset wheels. That said, I ran a very conservative 12mm spacers front and rear with the MP HAS dropped all the way down. No rubbing. I swapped to a 20x11+8 rear, 19x10 +11 wheel in the front still no rub. However wanting to swap to a 285 tire in the front I am opting for the R44 liner clearance kit (only about $200) to accommodate the wider tire and not rub.
I have seen others go 15mm front / rear, 15/12, even 18/15. Some report rubbing at full lock on the 15. But others report not. May also depend on which tire it comes with as that can affect as well. Last edited by AZG87; 10-22-2024 at 10:45 AM.. |

fender liners are really not a big install. i picked up some fender pieces on aliexpress made for the g80 platform, some cutting and they fit perfect.
the g87 doesn’t have the same problem as the g80/82 with rubbing for some reason. i am running aftermarket forged wheels with 20x10 et 8 which is a fairly aggressive fitment, slammed on AST HAS and have not rubbed yet Quote:

I understand cost but keep in mind you are adding weight to an already very heavy wheel, even if not a huge increase. Future Classic at least has one of the lightest options out there when it comes to spacers. Last edited by AZG87; 10-23-2024 at 10:22 AM.. |

I have 15mm front & rear. Stock ride height (which really isn't bad at all, imo). 275/285 Michelins.

Your front wheel gap looks much smaller than other stock height cars I have seen. They often seem to have a larger (appearing) front gap vs the rears. Perhaps your spacers bring the wheel out and reduce the appearance of the gap. I am considering 15mm front and 18mm rear...but not sure if I should go 18 or just stick with 15 all around

This looks really nice, do you know how low the drop is from stock?

285/30/20. although tire choice and size is important your final offset of your wheels is equally important. running 20x10 et 8. no rubbing and i’m pretty low with no gap. got a lot of camber in the front since there is no camber adjustment and i’m going to add a 5mm spacer to get the perfect fitment. i will pushing limits with the final offset of et 3 have a feeling it will rub on big bumps

the pictures are on a slopped driveway. it’s misleading to see actual height

It’s probably a little too low since I scraped the crap out of my splitter and actually broke it. Shot with splitter, side skirts, Mudflaps. Definitely need flaps or PPF if going with spacers. |
