Lowest/Widest suspension setup without rubbing?

Hi guys,

Recently took delivery of my G87 in August and looking at fixing the awful suspension setup by fitting some lowering springs/spacers, once the run-in service is done

Seen quite a few posts/vids mentioning the rubbing issue on the G8x cars so I wanted to see what people have experienced on how low/wide they’ve gone with the springs/spacers.

Ideally want to fix the arch gap without having to mess around with the wheel liners. Would prefer to just fit spacers if possible but I’ve read lowering can also help with the clearance

I’m running the usual 930M’s with Pirelli PZero’s from factory. New to the forum stuff, I tried to have a look at other posts but couldn’t really find a definitive answer.

Appreciate any advice/help!

Spacers are really more of a temp fix until oem wheels are replaced with lighter and proper offset wheels. That said, I ran a very conservative 12mm spacers front and rear with the MP HAS dropped all the way down. No rubbing. I swapped to a 20x11+8 rear, 19x10 +11 wheel in the front still no rub. However wanting to swap to a 285 tire in the front I am opting for the R44 liner clearance kit (only about $200) to accommodate the wider tire and not rub.

I have seen others go 15mm front / rear, 15/12, even 18/15. Some report rubbing at full lock on the 15. But others report not. May also depend on which tire it comes with as that can affect as well.

fender liners are really not a big install. i picked up some fender pieces on aliexpress made for the g80 platform, some cutting and they fit perfect.

the g87 doesn’t have the same problem as the g80/82 with rubbing for some reason.

i am running aftermarket forged wheels with 20x10 et 8 which is a fairly aggressive fitment, slammed on AST HAS and have not rubbed yet

Curious what tire you are running up front? On the oem 275/35/19 on my 19x10 with MP HAS all the way down it does not rub but the margin is slight. 285 will for sure hence went the R44 clearance route.

I won’t be changing wheels on this due to cost but 15f/12r spacers seems to be the most common setup. How low is the drop on the MP HAS?

Do you have the link for the fender liner or a part number? Might go down that route if it’s a cheap replacement. I did try to look for some G87 fender liners online couldn’t find anything, forgot that they might be the same as the G80/G82 though

Max drop on the MP HAS is around 25mm so not slammed by any means but still much better than oem and port installed so all part of oem warranty.

I understand cost but keep in mind you are adding weight to an already very heavy wheel, even if not a huge increase. Future Classic at least has one of the lightest options out there when it comes to spacers.

18 mm front and rear and KW HAS, low but not lowest setting. No rubbing. Nice and flush. I added Mudflaps to protect against the lower offset stance

I have 15mm front & rear. Stock ride height (which really isn't bad at all, imo). 275/285 Michelins.

Your front wheel gap looks much smaller than other stock height cars I have seen. They often seem to have a larger (appearing) front gap vs the rears. Perhaps your spacers bring the wheel out and reduce the appearance of the gap. I am considering 15mm front and 18mm rear...but not sure if I should go 18 or just stick with 15 all around

That’s not too aggressive, thought it would be a lot more. And yeah I know but the car won’t be doing any trackdays, it’s just for general use so hopefully shouldn’t be too bad

Thanks for the tip on future classic, will check it out

This looks really nice, do you know how low the drop is from stock?

285/30/20. although tire choice and size is important your final offset of your wheels is equally important. running 20x10 et 8. no rubbing and i’m pretty low with no gap. got a lot of camber in the front since there is no camber adjustment and i’m going to add a 5mm spacer to get the perfect fitment. i will pushing limits with the final offset of et 3 have a feeling it will rub on big bumps

Oh damn. That's gotta be sitting nice. The 19x10 +11 I have up front on the 275 ps4s is just barely getting by. Wanting 285 will definitely require the clearance kit. Considering sticking with the ps4s in the new size since I know the sidewall design and sizing but open to consideration. Which tire are you running at that size?

Sorry I don’t. Shop that installed said it’s not max low on the KWs.
It’s probably a little too low since I scraped the crap out of my splitter and actually broke it. Shot with splitter, side skirts, Mudflaps. Definitely need flaps or PPF if going with spacers.
