Isweep 1500 install and initial review

my oem pads starting some serious noise with only 1500 miles. Beside the dust i had more issues with the loud screeching.

preordered the isweep 1500 from Ben at RG Sport about two weeks ago. Guess these pads in high demand. Ben promised before end of the month and he was right one. Big shout out for Ben

watched several videos on youtube on the install. for the most part the YT videos were pretty accurate beside two important parts of the install which wasn’t mentioned in any of the videos. Can’t have E-brake on. Seems pretty obvious but didn’t think twice about it till i couldn’t get the caliper off. make sure your car is on a flat service or your will have some major problems. the 17mm bolt doesn’t fit normal wrenches and i had to gouge into my caliper to get it to fit in. Not sure if there is a special wrench but i definitely didn’t have anything that fit.

beside those two issues everything was pretty straight forward. took me about 2 hours to complete the install . Fronts super easy and the rear with the e-brake took much longer.

bedded the brakes and drove maybe 20 miles. Wheels look they were just cleaned. no noise, no dust ( that i could see) well worth the time and money

going to take a series of pics as i put more miles on but looked like bimmerpost doesn’t want me to upload pics right

I didn't have any issues with the 17mm bolt & my wrenches/sockets.

did your bolt not have a lip. between the lip and the part of the caliper i couldn’t fit any wrench i had. had to hammer my wrench and cause an indent in the caliper to get any hold. maybe user error but that was my only way to get that bolt from spinning

about 50 miles on the brakes. no noticeable brake dust at all. wheels looking good. i do have to say there is noticeable difference in stopping power from stock. The pads definitely feel different. like many others said initial bite is not there and overall stopping power feels inferior to the stock pads.

maybe some more bedding is needed but wasn’t expecting that much of a difference in braking power and feel

If I remember correctly you use a 17mm to hold the bolt on one side and you remove the 13mm on the other side.

couldn’t get the wrench around the 17mm. the wrench’s were just too wide. i ended up using a really small crescent wrench but that didn’t even really fit. good news that bolt isn’t that tight

The trick is a thin wrench for the retaining bolt on the back. I bought a set of these and they worked like a charm.

It is worth finding a set of thin open-ended wrenches for doing sliding caliper brakes to hold the sliding pin while undoing the bolt. They are normally in the 15 to 19mm range. Cheap bicycle wrenches often do the job well.

The other way is just to use a sacrificial 17mm wrench and grind it thinner on a bench grinder.

No. Torque them to spec & they've been fine for 15k mi. I also didn't replace the brake wear sensors as they were fine.

yup, didn’t have these nor a 17mm wrench. wasted money on that.

did you know you needed these in advance or after you started.
