What is going on with that Mustang's auto transmission? The races would have been a bit closer if the shifting was more efficient.

You shouldn't shift the 10spd auto with the Mustang. Let it do the shifting it would have been better.

Apparently the Mustang was shifted in auto too late which caused the car to delay shifting up.
I noticed my M2 does the same if I am using the paddles and wait too long and hit redline. So driver error, and not a good representation :/

As has already been said, why are they both manually shifting? Get a manual for that. Auto is designed to let the TCU decide when to shift. In this case zero reason to manually shift adding driver error into it
