Maxton Front Splitter V1 Install

For those who have purchased a Maxton splitter, how did you install? It comes with 16 m6 bolts, washers, and nuts. But for our front bumper, you’d have to remove the bumper to be able to get nuts on the provider bolts.

Has anyone used self tappers? That’s how my RW carbon splitter was installed on my m550. I’m really hesitant to drill into this front bumper with only 200 miles on the car.

V2 here, but I used double-sided tape and self tappers. It’s been through a lot and still holding strong.

I get the hesitation about drilling into a new bumper, but then I remembered that the holes are not anywhere that is visible unless you’re under the car. So I went for it and I’m glad I did!

Thanks, I ended up doing the same. 3M automotive tape and then used 3/4 inch self tapping screws and washers. I ended up using 12 spaced evenly end to end.

Looks like we have identical cars too. Looks sharp!

The install hardware they provide are bolts, washers, and nuts. No self-tappers. I grabbed a pack from Home Depot for a few dollars. Steps I'd recommend:

1. Wipe down the splitter and underside of front bumper
2. Apply 1" 3M tape across the splitter to mount
3. Mount the splitter with the 3M tape
4. Pick a side and jack the car up to get clearance for your drill
5. Starting from the center use 6 evenly spaced 3/4 inch self tappers and washers working your way toward the jacking point
6. Jack up the other side and repeat step 5.

Correct, it doesn't use any pre-existing mounting locations. I used #10 3/4 inch self-tapping screws.

Only difference is I used a philip's head style self tapper, but those work as well.

For tape, I just bought some 3M double sided automotive tape from AutoZone. You'll need at least 6-7 feet.
