The first things to do in your new M2?

I will soon take delivery of my new G87 and I was wondering that the best things are to do with the car as soon as you get it. Which settings etc.

And please no PPF suggestions … 😁

Before you leave the lot...

Check tire pressures. No problems with my M2 or any of my BMWs being delivered with the wrong tire pressures but with other cars the dealer delivered a new car to me with its tires inflated to 45psi.

When I was picking up my M2 the genius coded the auto stop/start to be off by default.

She also -- after asking me -- enabled the shift assist feature. My car came with a 6-speed manual.

She customized the M1 button settings. That is she asked me what settings I wanted and I told her. She left the M2 button settings alone. I have not bothered to set up the M2 button.

On the 200 mile drive home I had to dial down the lane departure nanny system's steering wheel intervention. Should have had the genius do that before I left the lot but it never occurred to me.

Oh, as soon as you can -- the engine has to be up to temperature -- check the oil level. I didn't do this but later after getting home I checked it and it was a bit low. I don't know if it was low to begin with or it used a fraction of a liter over a few hundred miles. After I topped up the oil level in around 10K miles the engine never used any oil.

Make sure both keys work.

If there are lug bolt locks used be sure the lock key fits all 4 lug bolt locks.

Kind of paranoid-ish but open the hood to as a pretense oooh and aaah over the engine (cover...) but more importantly to check all the caps are tight.

Didn't do this with my M2 or more recently my M8 but the other day I happened to have the M8 hood open and was fiddling around and found the cap to the air charge cooler coolant reservoir was loose.

This isn't even everything. Break-In is 1,200 miles, so I'll just be installing small mods and smiling ear to ear while trying desperately not to floor it.

Have the dealer align the car. So many people (including myself) have found the car to be out of spec straight from the factory.

Sure do, and an X3MC & Jeep Wrangler. Considering adding a P-car as well. None of which answers the question as to why the OP was posting the same question in a new thread after just 2 weeks

Yes and we are painfully reminded in myriad threads despite the irrelevance in most of them.

Check the setting for the heads up display. If you navigate some views (size of the map) can “obstruct” your view, at least at first.

As with every M car, set up your M1 and M2 buttons!

M1 for street, and M2 for everything off track/hoon use!

Are you DIYing the Car Eye? If so let me know how hard the install is. BMW Quoted me an insane price to install but I don’t trust my DIY skills enough to do it haha
