Insurance Costs

Hey all,

I know this isn’t really the best place to ask this but what are you guys paying for insurance monthly?

Also include your age if you want.

I have a 2025 m2 arriving soon and I am 22. They are quoting me 550-650$ per month. Feels crazy!

Ok so I'm 23 and yes, most insurance companies quoted me between $300-$600/month for a G87. Geico however quotes me around $180 per month and Plymouth Rock assurance quoted me about the same.

Just shop around different insurance companies and see who can give you the best deal. It may be worth to actually call and talk to an agent who can give you a better deal. Depending on the insurance company, the agents are paid commission, so they can sometimes get you a better rate than what is quoted online.

Damn, I rode a bicycle when I was 22 and then drove beaters till I was probably 30.

These threads are useless because there are too many variables when it comes to insurance but I’m old and I pay $550 a month for 2024 G87, 2021 Bronco, 2020 STi and 2018 A4.

Like everyone else said, a lot is dependent on the state and city you live in.

I live in Michigan, so obviously the rates here are outrageous, but my 6 month premium is $2810 for my 25 M2 and a complete POS 2000 Honda Civic. The civic doesn’t have full coverage for obvious reasons. So, that equates to $468/month

I’m 32 btw, and I use National General. I do have one no-fault accident on my record. For an additional data point, I got a quote from Progressive for over $6k for 6 months lol…

Other cars don't matter - the question is what are you paying per month on the M2

Other cars do matter.
Insurance companies have multi car discounts. If it is your only car, the rate will be higher.

It is one of the many variables that make threads like this useless.

Technically $137 per month per policy but the multi car, mileage driven, etc, changes the total. I’m guessing it would be double that if it were my only car… another reason why these threads can’t tell you much

Wait until you have 5 cars and 2 teenagers

$14k/yr all in, even with good drivers. If anyone has a good rec in so cal, let me know.

Edit, just did the maths. M2 is only $173/month, but wife is primary. Those pesky kids driving the rates up on the beaters.

$373/mo 2016 Mercedes GLC
$255/mo 2018 Land Rover

So $500/mo for a 22 year old with a close to 500 hp car sucks, but seems about right.

*sigh* no sh*t we all know about multi car discounts (since I was 16 I think)!

The question is rate on the M2, specifically - ok?

It's not useless at all, although more details help. My daily driver is a V6 Accord, no way I run errands with a 70k car

I think most forum members have cars in addition to their M2, so the rates paid for the M2 are not representative as compared to quoting an M2 used for all driving by the insured, which is why comparing rates isn't helpful. Also, credit scores and age of the insured play a huge role in determining your insurance rates.

I'm 36, daily an X5, and drive the M2 once a week when the weather is nice.

I pay... checks notes... $75 per month for coverage on the M2 with Progressive.
