Is knurled beading necessary?

Hey Everyone,

Am about about to buy some aftermarket wheels and was trying to decide if I should add knurled beading to the wheels. Is this something that is necessary? This is going to strictly be a DD so no track (not sure if that makes a difference.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Garage List
Can't possibly matter for DD.

My winter wheels have it, but i didn't buy the feature, it was just there.

No, not necessary for a DD car.

As others have posted, probably not.
My vendor charged $75 for all 4 wheels so given the total outlay, a few extra dollars didn’t matter to me.
YMMV

Not necessary for a DD. I wonder how effective it really is on the track. My Apex wheels are knurled and my tires still slip 25%-50% around during each session.

I passed on the knurled beading because I don’t, and never will, track my car but also, a tire guy I know said he’s noticed more slow air leaks on wheels with the knurling. Not often enough to scare someone that might need the knurling, but often enough to say something to someone that doesn’t need it.
