BMW NA Reports 2024 U.S. Sales Results, Sets New Benchmark Annual Sales and BEV Sales

BMW of North America Reports Q4 2024 U.S. Sales Results, Sets New Benchmarks for Annual Sales and BEV Sales.
  • 371,346 BMW Vehicles Sold in the U.S. in 2024, Marking Another Record Year for the Brand.
  • BEV Sales Increase 12.3% in 2024, Surpassing 50,000 for the first time.
  • Woodcliff Lake, NJ – January 3, 2025… BMW of North America today reported Q4 2024 and full year 2024 sales results for the BMW and MINI brands in the U.S.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, BMW sales in the U.S. totaled 117,506 vehicles, an 8.9% increase from the 107,881 vehicles sold in the fourth quarter of 2023. For the full year 2024, BMW sales increased by 2.5% to total sales of 371,346 vehicles compared to the 362,244 vehicles sold in 2023. This represents the second consecutive year that BMW has set a new sales record in the U.S.

BMW Battery Electric Vehicle Sales.
With four fully electric BEV models in market from the start of the year, BMW set a new annual record for electric vehicle sales in the U.S., surpassing 50,000 units for the first time. In the fourth quarter of 2024, BEV sales in the U.S. totaled 13,876 vehicles, a 3.5% decrease from the 14,374 BEVs sold in the fourth quarter of 2023. For the full year 2024, BMW BEV sales increased by 12.3% to total sales of 50,981 vehicles compared to the 45,417 BEV vehicles sold in 2024.

The company sold an additional 19,398 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in 2024, bringing the total number of electrified vehicles sold in 2024 to 70,379, or 19% of total sales.

“This is a fantastic result, which is a direct reflection of the BMW brand’s strength and superior product line-up. U.S. customers really love our ‘Ultimate Driving Machines’ -- regardless of drivetrain -- which fueled sales growth of both ICE and BEV vehicles,” said Sebastian Mackensen, President & CEO, BMW of North America. “But I would also like to thank and congratulate our own team, and the entire dealer network, for achieving these new milestones. Together, we have established a collaborative spirit and a very focused dedication to our brand, as well as a clear commitment to excellence in customer service. We are looking forward to a strong 2025 as we celebrate our 50th year in the U.S.”

I think this is a typo -

I think the last ‘2024’ should be a ‘2023’, right?

Not included in the report

https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/10/10/b...rough-q3-2024/

But semi reported above....

In Q3 shipments dropped by 3.9% to 47,057 cars. However, the high-performance division is still 2% up through September, at 146,574 vehicles.

I think anything m performance counts

I bet the ROI on the BEVs suck… they probably spend way more on advertising per BEV sold than ICE. I wish electric would stop being shoved down the throat of consumers.

Maybe US but everything sold in the US is a worldwide produc. So net net the BEV is a wash as I'm certain in some places they the top sellers.

X5 continues to be the best selling model, while iX sales decelerated, even with sales incentives. None of this is a surprise.

The 3 series should be their bread and butter "Civic" sales leader. If I worked for BMW I would be focused here to get their volumes up. Forgot about the new 4dr 2 series as a good volume leader.

Overall, still very strong results... same story as always... without the mainstream SUV volume (X3 and X5)... this company would be in trouble. X5 still the record seller and the X3 right behind even though sales are down as likely that is inventory of the new car just coming on line.... it's wild how small the Sedan market is now given that the X7 sold almost as much as all of the 3 series lol.

It's the opposite in Europe, although the smaller SUV like X1/X3 are blooming. X1 is the bestseller with the 3 series right after.

in the EU, the only markets that matter are the UK and Germany, all others are tiny... EU as a whole is I believe still a small market than USA alone

They already sell a 4 dr 2 series.
And sales of it caused an increase 2 series sales.

I personally will not get another BMW but will never get other than a BEV car. No wonder why German automakers are in trouble.
Why should they be concerned they’re not outselling a dedicated EV manufacturer that has insanely friendly lease and finance incentives?

Rivian is always barely one step in front of insolvency it seems…

X5 & X3 are the volume leaders. X7 doing well too considering MSRP often goes north of 100k.
4 series doing well even considering the i4 sales help, however I was surprised to see bigger numbers than 3 series.
Time to discontinue the disappointing XM.

I would love to see the profitability numbers as they should be really rising with increased use of generally cheaper interior materials like "Veganza" while charging extra for leather that was standard before as well as use of the same buttons, screens, handles, etc. throughout all series.

Seems like a below industry average year for BMW, especially compared to MB. Although EV sales are up for 2024, Q4 EV sales are not encouraging. Low price premium non plug-in hybrids would help.

I’m not sure what your problem is.

The i4 is selling decently, even it’s on a compromised platform.

And I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Neue Klasse. The first on that platform, the iX3, will be released this year and will be a game changer for BMW in the EV segment.

The iX is/was a niche vehicle - never intended to be mass market like the X5. Regardless, it’s a fantastic vehicle. Some reviewers have said it’s the best EV currently for sale in the US.
