Im looking for a small size sports vehicle, struggling between g87 m2cs and cayman gts.
If m2cs get acc&360cam, i will take it, otherwise i take the cayman.

If a base G87 does not get the camera, I highly doubt a track-focused G87 will get a luxurious 360 camera.

Because the M2 isn't going to get a major redesign. So the M2 has ACC but does not have a 360 camera.

The M240 has 360, but still does not and will not get DAPP from the 3/4 series.


This is intentional by BMW. If you want the bells, you need to move up to an M4.

Why do you need a 360 camera? Imo, the M2 would be a much better performance car without a lot of the unnecessary "tech" it already has.

360 cameras are invaluable, helps makes sure you never curb a wheel or get too close to other objects. Also lets you peek around corners when exiting an alley, etc. It should not be standard but should be offered as an option, so if someone doesn't want it, they don't need to get it. I bet if it were offered most would opt for it.

How did we ever drive without them : Having the side mirrors properly adjusted (majority of people don't) also helps make sure one doesn't curb a wheel or get too close to other objects.

Sit in a parking lot and watch people try to back up using their camera's vs those who look behind them/use their mirrors. People using their cameras (Tesla drivers a lot) take longer to back up, take multiple attempts trying to get into a parking spot, etc. It's comical.

You can’t use the side mirrors when pulling forward into a spot with a curb. The cameras also let you see how close you are to parking blocks so you don’t damage your front bumper. I’ve spent years having to open my window and stick my head out or having to get out the car and check. Once you have the convenience of 360 cameras it’s hard to go back. It’s also reassuring when you let someone else drive like your SO so they don’t F up your pride and joy.

It was mentioned above and I'll mention it once more, the sliding down passenger mirror in reverse was the greatest cheat code we received. This in conjunction with park distance sensors, makes for all I need.

Older folks would probably laugh at this discussion and call the nannies a bunch of crutches to our distance judgements 🙂

I'm one of those older folks but I'm not a luddite. I use my rearview, side mirrors and can parallel park without any aides. I've done it a million times, but the cameras help in scenarios where mirrors just can't. I don't get why anyone would be against them as an option. You don't want them then don't get them, but to make blanket statements that the M2 should not have them seems rather odd.

Am surprised that this is ‘the’ determining factor between both cars for OP. It’s something I would use maybe 5% of my driving time in our 2nd car. (Honda SUV) My better half was surprised the M2 doesn’t have a 360 degree camera but my decision was based on the performance and feel of the car which I loved vs the RS3 (which has a 360 cam) so I bought the M2. No regrets even when battling a tough park spot! W/ all due respect maybe start with feel & performance (go drive an M4CS to get a taste of what M2CS will be like) then weigh up importance of these minority features incase it does not have a 360 cam. I was debating between M340 and M2 and the lack of 360 cameras was definitely something I considered. Lack of 360 would not have been deciding factor but coming from an F32 with no cameras whatsoever I really wanted to have all of them. The self parking I never use but the backup assistant is nice as well. Plenty of times you have to pull into narrow alleyways / driveways and just pressing a button to get out is nice.

That said, now that I do have them I definitely waste time making sure I'm parked perfect every time. Camera still doesn't beat side mirror turning down though, especially when parallel parking.

I don't think CS will get them but kind of holding out hope that once the M4 is discontinued they would add the full DAPP and 360 cameras as options.

+1 for Tag's view. IMO, the only reason to dislike safety and convenience features AS AN OPTION is just pure machismo.

The m2 should have them as an option if you ask me. I used mine on my m3 to park in a very right garage all the time. Specifically the front camera to keep me from hitting my kids e-bikes. Backing into this spot was not an option.

I almost didn’t buy my m2 due to lack of cameras. Now that I’ve had mine for a while, I’ve adapted. But I’d like a front camera at the least.

All those who hate on those who’d like to have them are just ridiculous. If the 240 has them, so should the m2.

Most of us daily drive these cars only. If my m2 was for track only, or mostly track use. I’d not care as much.

Who cares what options people want? If they want them, they want them.
