Lane Change Steering Intervention

Hey guys, recently picked up my LCI and have noticed that steering intervention for land change warning keeps getting ticked on start up. I disable it each time in settings but next time i go for a drive its on again!

Anyway to get this setting to remain OFF for good?

Think you need to link your key to your driver profile.

When I bought my 2023 M2 the Genius did this for me. That is she created a profile and linked a key to it. And applied some settings/made some changes to some settings that stuck and were available when I used the key she had linked to my profile.

I've experienced the same issue with lane departure settings and a few others that don't remain resident. My profile is linked to my key and all that; however, that's not preventing these erratic idiosyncrasies in the ID system--least not for me. For example, my HUD and side mirror placements would often revert to some original (?) setting despite have recorded my changes in memory (position 1 in my case).

Other setting seem fine...the car always seem to remember my last radio/xm/Spotify channel or AC temp and fan settings.

Not a helpful response (just a sympathetic one), I guess. If I discover something useful, I'll report back.

I had issues like this when I first got my car and they all resolved when I removed my BMW ID from the car and then set it all back up again.

Maybe that's worth a shot, thanks.

What worked for me in a g20 was to create a new profile and after that all settings would stick.

But woah boy do I regret it. Had this wasp get in the car in July and was on this sht road with a 5 feet concreete ditch. Looked at the thing on my thigh and clipped the ditch getting myself into a solid concrete bridge end. Was doing 70kmh on gps when I hit that. Car is dead but do I wish I had steering intevention on. hell YES.

Is this new for '25? On my '23 the first time I turned them off they stayed off.

* Edit: I see it's location/market dependent.

Yes, the EU now has mandatory Lane Keeping that has to be available and active on virtually all new cars sold after July 2024. Typically the UK and Australia follow the EU requirements, too.

The safety features have to be on at engine start, but at the moment some can be switched off manually after engine start.

Doesn't putting the car in sport M mode (display) disable that stuff too?

Wow they just keep getting more restrictive over there. What a hassle that would be.Thank goodness we don’t have that regulation in the US and Canada.I was also reading that they can’t turn off the speed limit warning over there.

Not sure about the speed limit warning not being able to be switched off. I had a 2023 rental Polestar 2 in the UK over Christmas. It had the safety systems required for lane keeping / lane departure and speed limit notification, but being a a pre-July 2024 car, they would stay off when disabled between car activations.

I believe you can still switch them all off on post-July 2024 cars, but that needs to be done on every car activation/start (I believe by holding the appropriate steering wheel button down on the G87).

yep this works as well, need to select Sport M Mode but still annoying. ive also added it to my idrive 8.5 shortcuts so at least i can disable it with 1 button now when i get in the car.

Mandatory at startup in the EU unfortunately

Simplest solution seems to be setting lane departure off as an ID8 shortcut, and the speed warning can be disabled by a long press of the SET button on the steering wheel.

It annoyed me when I got the car, but like everything else it's become a momentary couple of clicks as part of the routine start process...

Takes no time and if cold start lets S58 get some oil pressure before driving!

My 2025 M2 doesn't work like that. The Lane Departure Warning is ON, but the Steering Intervention is OFF. Attached is a picture after starting the car. The car is USA spec.

The lane warning vibration comes on each restart but the active steering intervention does not in my 2024. Pretty positive if I turned off that feature altogether it stays off. I know for a fact the intervention hasn’t come back on ever since I removed and added my BMW ID two weeks after taking delivery

LDW and steering intervention uses the KaFAS camera and doesn’t require ACC.
