Contemplating X5 OR X6, 5.0i or M performance engine ?

Hello all, Had been out of this bimmer stuff a long time since i sold my 2005 X5, Now want to get a X5 or X6. Looking for some experts here to chime in on 5.0i or the M performance engine.
