Engine help please 🥲🥲🥲

Hi guys! Need some serious help with anyone who knows a lot about bmw 1 series engines.

Have had an absolute hell of the last 4 months - bought the car, drive train error, was a blown headgasket so had a very reputable bmw specialist garage fit a reconditioned engine and new clutch.

Now - ran absolutely fine but the garage noticed that where we had sourced the engine from needed new rubber seals on the engine, so once fitted I took the car to the garage who sent us the engine. On the drive to this garage I had a notification for low oil and low coolant, and topped it up- this is BM engine works based in Rainham.

They charged £750 and fit new ignition coils and spark plugs which had been done 3 months ago - so clearly got scammed here, and they apparently fit new engine seals.

Drove an hour home and checked when I got home - low engine oil and NO coolant to be found in the coolant tank! A light white smoke coming from exhaust still - which we were told by reputable garage that this would stop once seals have been replaced.

No coolant leaks in passenger /driver side car mats.

It’s clear to say we have been absolutely scammed by the BM engine works and this is a whole other issue we are sorting - but does anyone have any clue why a reconditioned engine is doing this!

Could it be a problem outside of the engine? Seems unlikely as reputable garage did a full check on the car when it was getting engine fitted, even down to tyres and wipers etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, have spent around £10k in fixing which is crazy - didn’t think we would have any problems after.

Some gaps in the description. Which "rubber seals"? Valve seals? What year and motor?

Faulty valve seals would allow oil into combustion cylinders, this would burn more bluish, than white. And wouldn't necessarily cause loss of coolant.

Coolant getting into combustion chambers would explain white smoke and loss of coolant, but not low oil. The usual cause of coolant getting into the cylinders is a blown head gasket. You could have white smoke, loss of coolant and the oil might look milky.

Based on what little we know, you may have had bad valve seals (loss of oil), and also a bad head gasket, causing loss of coolant and/or oil. You should probably have a compression test performed. It sounds like that engine reconditioning was botched or never performed at all. And check the engine oil for signs of coolant.
