First Scheduled Maintenance
Purchased my X5 close to a year ago and I'm receiving notices that my first scheduled maintenance is now due. (7,700 miles on it currently). As far as I can tell, the only thing that needs to be done is an oil change. If that's the case do I need to take it to the dealer, or any oil change center? Is there any other advantage or disadvantage in taking it to the dealer? I'm leasing the vehicle so I'm not sure if I'm required to take it to them or not? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Oil changes for low mileage BMWs is once a year (or condition based mileage which is usually around 10,000 miles) which ever comes first. You X5 has 3 years of free factory maintenance so yes take it to the dealer.
