Random thread....what is your best mpg in the G87?
I know, I know, the M2 REALLY isn't bought/designed/driven to be economical, however, it is interesting to see what can be extracted from the S58 when driven with a little more refinement.
I took mine on a work commute this week, boring drive on some dual carriageway and motorways, relatively light traffic but some junctions/traffic lights etc. I stuck to the speed limits and accelerated gently, the auto box was sublime in these conditions, almost switching to a grand cruiser mode. Pretty happy with the mpg results, albeit a boring drive. The photo shows the return journey, the one out was pretty much identical. What have you managed to extract on a longer run? PS: the "economy" has since fallen off a cliff as I have been driving the car as it should be driven...... |

I’m running in and have only done 300 miles but it’s quite a shock how much thirstier it is than the m240i it replaced. So far I’m low 20’s and best I’ve managed is 30mpg on a longer drive. Assuming it’s tight at the moment and will probably loosen up and improve as the miles pile on and it’s get it’s run in service and new fluids (I believe run in oil and transmission are different)
Also assume the cold (not been above 5 degrees so far) won’t be helping Luckily it’s a weekend toy so it’s not an issue. I did work out that I get 6 miles on the same cost my Tesla will do 130 miles on😂 |

My G22 M440i was brilliant on fuel, changing to the G87 has been a bit of a shock, but still more than happy!
My diesel Alfa Giulietta takes the strain on the vast majority of work journeys, averaging well over 58mpg in that car, so it all balances out. |

I’m always messing around so my mpg is low (19.4 lifetime, only have 1600 miles on it) I managed to get 24 mpg when I took delivery and immediately drove it 8 states back home (600mi) though.

29.8 mpg on a 246 mi trip yesterday. Auto cruise set at 84 mph for the majority of the drive. Engine set on economy, chasis on sport plus, brakes and steering on sport. 21k mi on the car, new Continental extreme contact dws 06 all-season tires set at 32 psi cold. Outside temp was 85 degrees. Traveling North on Tollway 130 out of Austin (cruise set at 87 mph for a good 35-40 min) then I35 through Dallas. Caught traffic at 4:00 pm on the Dallas North Tollway which slowed me down to an avg of 40 mph for 20 miles then back up to 75-80 mph for the last 15 mi or so. Clear sky, no real wind to speak of. Any other variables I forgot to mention?

I did a 350km drive a coupe of days ago and got 7.2 l/100km. It included some very hard acceleration from time to time. Very impressed. Kind of need to get good economy on the open road though given the fuel tank is literally tiny.
