Hey guys, I recently bought an M2 g87 2024 with 1500 miles.

Just took delivery and noticed this odd sound coming from the engine bay. Would love to hear your guys thoughts. I'm not too sure if the break in service was performed yet. I've owned e92, f82, and g82 and don't recall hearing such a distinct sound.

If you bought it from a BMW dealership, they can tell you if the run in service was done and when.

What sound are you referring to (if I had to guess before you state what the sound is, I would say the direct injection).

Yep, the injectors....perfectly normal.

I posted this clip asking the same thing haha. Everyone says it’s normal so far but I’m still going to take it to the dealer once it’s warmer out. The clicking noise I know is the direct injection but I hear some deeper knocking sounds when the injectors quiet down and that worries me. I want to take it in so I have a record of this noise before I do bolt ons just in case.

Yup that's exactly the sound. This is actually my second g87 since I sold my first one and a few months later decided to buy another one. I don't remember at all hearing that noise in the first one. Both the same yr 24, and both with around 1k miles.

I will let you know what the dealer says after I take mine in. It probably won’t be be for another month or so depending on the weather here. LMK if you figure anything out on your car. Thanks.

so you guys never had a car with direct injection engine.... this sound are the injectors.. it´s absolutely normal like this.... you´ll give the shop guys a good hard laugh if you ask them :-)

My dealer joked when I brought it in for RiS that people will bring their M cars in asking if normal car noises are normal lol. This is normal. My car has 6500 miles and has sounded like this from day one, never skipped a beat (other than the day the fucking fuel door wouldn't unlock).

it's normal. When I test drove an M4 the sound freaked me out for a second too.

I have multiple cars with direct injection. The clicking isn’t what I’m talking about it’s a deeper knock that I hear when the injectors quiet down. But to be honest this car is by far the loudest direct injection car I’ve ever had. I really hope I’m just paranoid!! 😂

Shoulda heard the N54 - my old 135i sounded like a diesel.
