Must have G87 options?
I’m about to order a new M2 and thinking through the build. What are the must have options in your opinion? Which ones do you wish you included or feel like they weren’t worth the extra money? Any regrets on color choices exterior or interior or that you would do differently if you were buying all over again? I know some don’t cost much but they add up quickly. Thanks for sharing!

Heating steering wheel is a must. I have the ZF8 and use the heck out of remote start when the weather is too hot or cold. The HUD is also really neat and I rarely look at my gauge cluster.

For me it’s the bucket seats, over and above any other option. Then the carbon roof.
Anything else I can take it or leave it. But the seats especially just add so much occasion and visual lift to the cabin.

Here in Oz we only get fully loaded cars so the only options are the carbon buckets and a few minor add-ons so can't be much help.
However, if you are considering the bucket seats and you use the car as a daily think long and hard about them because they can be quite annoying to use on a regular basis. |

The only must have on these cars are the upgraded headlights. Everything else is superfluous as everyone's answers will be different based on budget, driving ability, personal preference.

+1 - OP needs to spend some time with M2s in person. Might help sort the 'issue'.

This is so subjective.
For me: Headlights and shadowline were absolutely first. Then carbon roof because some how to me that feels like a must on an M car. Then MPHAS because ride height sucks on modern M cars and I wanted a warrantied lowering option. Nothing else was needed at that point.. but I do somewhat regret not getting carbon interior trim. If I could build it again that’s all I would add. |

HUD
I already speed most of the time but without that quick reference floating in the air reminding me that I’m closer to a felony speeding charge than to the speed limit….the otter 🦦 might be taking the bus 🚎 Last edited by Crazyotter; 02-09-2025 at 10:39 AM.. |

For me the following are essentials on the M2:
- HUD (part of the basic spec for UK cars) - Heated steering wheel, once you've had one they are a must - Carbon Roof, it's an M car so should have one - Adaptive lights (options in some markets) - Carbon interior trim (standard on my '23 model) I went for the auto as I use the car for longer trips and work on occasion, and also went for the standard seats as the CF buckets just weren't practical. |

This thread is going to be all personal preference. I’m in the no HUD camp. It’s redundant and distracting at night. I don’t use it in my other BMW. Carbon buckets depend on if you, or your significant other, like them. My wife would would hate them so no go, but the normal seats are just fine. Carbon roof I’d say is a must. Looks great and gives more headroom.
I also did MP HAS because the car sits too high stock, and nice to have lowered suspension covered by warranty. Last edited by mrdudley; 02-09-2025 at 09:22 AM.. |

Personal preference:
HUD - not just useful for speed and RPMs, but I like scrolling radio station presets and seeing turn-by-turn directions without looking down. Heated Steering Wheel Remote Start - if you option the auto, this is a must. Very hot or cold days, it’s super convenient. Hot take: MPHAS - I opted not to get this because I already had a set of KWHAS in the garage, however the car begs to be lowered. There is value to having it covered under warranty, but I have never had a warranty claim on any suspension components in my 30 years of car ownership. Knocking on wood!

As others have noted it boils down to what the individual wants.
I didn't build my M2. I found an unspoken for launch car on a 200 mile distant dealer's lot and bought it. Summary of the car's details below. Had I built a car about the only difference would have been to forego the BMW M 50 year emblems. |

I have been using the phone charger lately on my new phone and it actually seems like it works? The charger in the f87 was different and definitely did not work
I will check % when I get out later and make sure but the phone is not overheating when I get out with it |

The bucket seats make the car so much more special. You feel like youre getting to a jet or a real race car. Very cool.
