Settings reset for dummies
Had the car in for CBS oil change & microfilter plus they replaced & reprogrammed a new telematics control module. This erased all my settings in the vehicle including the remote start, devices paired, etc.
I'm not a software person, so can someone provide the Cliff's Notes version as to why this occurs & is there a way to prevent this if the vehicle needs something replaced/reprogrammed? Obviously, I hope I don't need too many more items replaced, but it's just a hassle to have to reprogram various settings when this occurs.

Was this covered under warranty? Was the dealer BMW of Austin or BMW of South Austin? I am interested in the module reprogramming. I am trying to get a reprogramming to accomodate my new amp and I have been met strange looks.

The telematics control module was found to be faulty & replaced under warranty. I get my BMWs serviced at BMW of Dallas.
