The last RWD, manual, luxury, DTM, muscle car, that BMW will likely make? The only regret would be not buying one sooner but I got the first custom ordered carbon car off the assembly line so...no no regrets. Go drive the thing and enjoy every second of it.

Tbh - I've been modding cars for so long, I typically do a lot of research before making any changes/additions. That being said, I'm not 100% satisfied with the mid-pipe & exhaust set up I have. I don't know if it's the mid or axle-back that I'm unhappy with, but that a fairly expensive change.

The Dinan unresonated x-pipe. I get drone at 2800-2200 rpm which is exactly where my car stays at 80-85 mph on my 4 hour drive 2x every week. I'm not sure if it's the x-pipe or the exhaust. The other mids are pretty much 2x the price which I feel is excessive for such a short piece of pipe.

I didn't option the Carbon Buckets. In my G82, I had a good reason: ventilated seats. The G87 doesn't have this option, but I felt like the buckets would be too uncomfortable for my... *ahem* girth.
However, I think I could have delt with it. I got this M2 to hold myself over for the M2 CS, and to "test drive" it for an extended time, with the possible intent to trade it for the CS, depending on the price. I have no data to prove it, but now I'm wondering if the Carbon Buckets would retain more value. Other than that, they are just super cool and supportive. I think whatever I get next, I'll be optioning the Carbon Buckets.

Did you negotiate by chance?

You’re absolutely right about this. I did negotiate but they still turned around and listed it for an insane amount after I sold it because of the seats.

Like you, I tend to do a lot of research. I've also done decades worth of modding. Not to break the myths associated w/res-deletes (I'm sure some are true in certain platforms), but very rarely have I had to do full exhausts because I've found that they (res-deletes) produced the result for which I was looking. Some might be surprised to learn that most of my Mustangs (including my Dark Horse) had simple, cheap res-delete pipes on them. Aggressive notes with zero drone (important to me as we do a lot of long road trips). However, I'm not as familiar with the G87 design...so, don't know if the resonators are really affecting drone the way we might assume. Dinan's vid For what this highlights, the vid is good enough. But not the comprehensive demonstration for which I'm looking. ACI Dynamix (the closest I've found to anything that covers drone) *Rasp is another concern. While some say it's unavoidable, I don't detect any rasp in this vid. |

I have the MAD axle-back with the Dinan x-pipe. Like above there were a couple people with this set up that said absolutely no drone, but there definitely is in my car. I thought maybe the mid-pipe was touching the heat shielding in the tunnel as it was very close. Created more space, so that wasn't it. At 2k rpms my car buzzes & vibrates. Below 1800 or above 22-2300 rpm, no buzzing or vibrating. I do have the valve fuse pulled with them in the factory open position. This is much better than with them closed re: the drone.
