Accident Forgiveness

I'm not sure if I asked this...

On my TD insurance I had "5 year depreciation" which sounds great but every year that part of the premium goes up, till this years quote had me paying over $1000 for that, yes you get OEM parts, your car is guaranteed not to be depreciated in an accident (if total loss) this year is the last year, so I could afford a grand for that, so removed it

But I didnt have accident forgiveness, so added that on...

So AFAIK, AF is only for TD, so if I leave and go elsewhere it is not recognized.
It can only be used once, for at AF accident (no tickets) when you have a AF the next year premium you should not be dinged however I was also told (this doesn't guarantee that your premiums wont go up for other reasons)

If you do have an AF , for the next 6 years you cant use Accident Forgiveness

The cost is around $100 a year

What's people thoughts is it just an insurance scam? I don't know how much your insurance would go up if in an accident would it offset the $100 and again its only for TD's books

Does anyone have accident forgiveness

has it worked out

should I rather have it that not ?

we have accident forgiveness. use USAA which is better than most other insurers. couple years ago wife had two substantial claims, they did not increase rates at all. my feeling is that if AF is only 100 per year its a no brainer.

Accident forgiveness works, I've used it in a pileup. I'm not with TD. Rates didn't increase significantly afterwards.
