G42 M240i ACC and electric/memory retrofit

Hi guys,

I have a G42 M240i from 2023 and I don't have electric/memory seat and active cruise control.

Is it possible to just source some red leathered electric seats and let someone retrofit the wiring/memory buttons, code it and be done? Somehow it sounds too easy/simple for me.

Also, what about ACC? The car does have 360 camera and the radar thingy in the grill. Not sure if there are different types of it they all look the same to me. Is this possible? If so, what is needed for this?

I'd be potentially interested in the ACC retrofit. I also have 360 cams, as well as lane assist + collision avoidance, and so have the front radar. I wonder how much extra is involved to facilitate ACC.

I think ACC is a separate sensor that is only installed at the factory. I believe I saw that on a video about the 230 and also what my CA told me.

I’m also interested in whether the ACC can be added to a G87, how difficult it might me?

I could swear it is super easy since the camera, sensor and everything is the same except perhaps for the missing buttons(1min job) and maybe the cable/steering rack which is all super cheap.

I just cannot get any information.. perhaps in time..

There’s no way this is true. It’s missing the software too and the front sensor is likely a different part.
I’ve never seen a G42 gen with the front sensor without ACC though. I have a hard time believing it has it.

See my post further up. I was told straight up by the CA that it's a different part and has to be factory ordered. It was also mentioned in one of those dealer videos where they do the walk-around and talk about the car.

I mean you do need the activation codes for the ACC but so far the hardware seems the same. I am comparing mine to what people post on the internet. Normally you would see some difference in shape etc..

The lane departure and collision detection are done by the KaFAS cam in the mirror.
ACC is the (expensive) sensor in the front grille.

Just go on the bmw.com online configurator. You can plainly see that without ACC the lower grill is just straight across. Once you add it, then you get the trapezoid in the middle for the dedicated sensor.

Also, you can see in https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2175428 that the first car has the cutout for where it seems the ACC is and the the blue car a few posts down does not.

Mine is like the photo above but does not have ACC.

Also, in the link you provided the blue car is a 230 which has a different grille.

I did see a video where it was mentioned that prior to 2025, you had to get the dynamic handling package or something like that in order to get ACC, so maybe they were shipping cars with the trapezoid grill, but never actually installing it or something. 2025 I believe is the first year you could order it on it's own so they might have changed which grill goes on the car depending on that now like below.

The online config must be messed up then, because the 240 shows the same thing:

So my car is like the bottom (check my previous post here) but I dont have ACC.

With some brands, everyone gets the same sensor but the contents or shape is different. With this model/brand, I haven't seen the difference yet.

Going to call BMW now, time for some answers.

Update: calling BMW helped this time. I have an appointment where they will atleast look at the car and decide what is missing, if not, order part and install the ACC. They are suprised that I have the sensor but not the option or ability to purchase digitally(which is not an option anyway for these models I believe).

Update: Went to the BMW dealer, basically got scammed. Got told we can't help you even though they said on the phone they would help me atleast identify why it isn't present. Guy was waffling for 10minutes as to why it won't work but all I heard was BMW's businessmodel talking aka the hardware is there but since the option wasn't paid for we locked it in the software.

Expecting a call from different BMW dealer tomorrow.

I decided not to pursue the retrofits but the ACC/Heated steering, i will. It's a matter of principle for me.
