Interesting. What with the big brother black box, the $80/litre transmission fluid and now this the GTR is looking less and less attractive all the time (pity since the original created such high expecations). Oh yea, and apparently there are a few wee reliability and maintenance issues too--probly best not to pick one up when its out of warranty.

They used that in their promos of the car too. Much like the rebates/buy-backs offered to original RX8 customers (with misstated HP), I wonder what will become of this, if true.

that article doesn't take into account that the GT-R's are underrated.

One manufacturers claim vs another. Nissan say they can get that time Porsche say they can't. I won't be paying any attention to anything like this until an independent authority tests them with the same driver on the same day.
It does sound like the GTR is rather expensive to service though. |

A whole 25 seconds off the "record setting lap." Either Michael Schumacher was driving the GTR or Nissan is probably lying.

Porsche is just jealous, ya they are, alot! Remember back in the day when Porsche had the 959 out? Nissan bought 3 of em in 1987, to test the 4WD system out to make a copy of it. They called it ATTESA, and the first car they hooked it up with was the RNU12 Bluebird, and made its way up to the GTiR Pulsar. In 1989 they mastered the 4WD system by throwing more tech in it to hook it up to their new so called GTR32 ( cuz back then in 1989 they wanted to surprise everyone like they did this time by bringing the legend back from the dead ). They called it ATTESA - ETS, the one they hooked up in the GTR32 in 1989 and went on till 1994, then came the GTR33 with more tech in the system, they called it ATTESA - ETS Pro and lasted till the last GTR34 in 2001 ( and was also equiped to the Nismo, Nur, and other Nissan Approved tuned/moded versions till 2003 ) . ALL that gave them better reputation and more GTR coming out of peoples mouths than spitting the name Porsche. The 4WD system also achieved a reputation of it being the best 4WD system available for a sports car and also made them win so many races in Japan. Now we have the Legend back, and this time they call the 4WD system ATTESA ETS again, but this one is different. Unlike the previous ATTESA's which relied on mechanical feedback, this system in the current GTR uses electronic sensors and hydraulicaly actuated clutches, so that also made Porsche go nutz and didnt know what to do, so they bought GTR's and couldnt believe how its capable of whats it doing. Really, anyone who will drive the new GTR will be totally shocked of how it reacts, performs, drives, feels, sounds, shifts, down shifts and how its so easy to control, and thats what gave them the name, '' Anywhere, Anytime, Anyone '' They are jealous again from its latest acheivment and how much this car is loved by people more than Porsche!! Not jealous of the car, but from the 4WD system this legend has, and they should feel ashamed of themselves by BS'ng about the whole issue. And i also think they are not able to bring all that tech to their 4WD ssytem on the upcoming new Turbo's equiped with their new PDK tranny because both cars have different layouts and style. And i'll also add this, Porsche is also wondering, just like ALL OF US that how can this heavy vehicle can push itself. How? Well my German folks, i also dont know. But this time the JAPS win in ALL the catogary ( Feel, Performance, Handling, Power, Tranny ) and by feel, i also mean the feeling of the drive, the cruise. It rides much nicer than a Bently GT on normal cruising by much more ( not kidding ), feels heavy like a German car, feels nice from the inside. And i agree with Jay Leno on this one, '' Its not like any other previous Jap sports car, you DO get emotional just like the same way you get emotional when you have a seat in a nice German car ''. Im 100% possitive that i do believe that Porsche is jealous, stuck, lost and dont know what to do which makes me a very happy man. :thumbup:

This is to make fun of the Doppelkuplung Dual Clutch ( PDK ).
Whats with the silly thumb shifters? Again? I have them on my Cayman, they SUCK! The Mini has better shifters!! I hope that they change them to paddles cuz this is the way to go.

How can they throw a chassis engineer in the car and expect near-record setting times? Let alone one that works for your company and has little-to-no experience with the GTR?

So QJS you ever gonna pick up a porsche? I totally understand everything you said. But, I have always admired Porsche. Ever since a simple ride in 1997 in a 1986 911 Targa I have been hooked. I'll own a GT2 someday! Congrats on the new GTR coming. Please take pics! I need a new wallpaper! :biggrin:

Nissan has been using ringers for these times, and has probably been cranking the boost up on the cars they're supplying to the magazines for testing. As 135i owners we all know what a little tuning can do on a twin turbo car. |
