G87 Left Dash Storage Confirmed

I know several G42 members have done this install, but wanted to confirm this retrofit can be done on the G87.

I sourced the storage box from a G80/G82, ebay for only $30-$40.
Part #:6805524

Hardware:
3 x Self-tapping screw 07149323312
2 x Self Locking Nut 07147134265

I used the Template.pdf courtesy of JoseSportM

Used a dremel to cut out the general shape, then used a utility knife to sneak up on the outline.

Reach out with any questions, hope this helps.

That's actually a cool mod I may do. Thanks for this!

Nicely done, but how much stuff are people actually carrying around in the car where this needed? It's standard in my wife's X3MC but we've never actually put anything in there

Yeah I get it's not valued by everyone. Personally, I think the F87/G87 have a lack of storage and I ended up putting things in the door pockets. The more things I can get out of sight the better, especially in an interior as nice as the G87's.

Oh, I used to always put my sunglasses in there. May have to consider doing this at some point.

It came standard in my i4 with full individual leather. I bought the retrofit for my M2 and just haven't installed.

I keep my toll tag and registration among other things.

Once you have it it's great.

I may do this at some point and I am glad that you beat me to it because my concern was whether the footwell air bag would be in the way as it seemed very close in the pics that I saw. Would be a real bummer to cut the hole and then find out it wouldn't fit.

Well done.

Glad to help. I’ve done a lot of mods over the years, but potentially cutting a large hole in the dash for no reason was by far the most nerve-racking.

Cool but I don’t even have anything in my center console. Don’t need it.

Just ordered one from ebay, and printed out the template.

Unfortunately, my CS won't be here until March, but at least I'll be ready!

If you mean PROCESS, look over on the M240i forum. Also, IIRC, there is one on the G80 forum as well.

I found the unit (and ordered it) on eBay, but the part #s above don't seem to pull up any specific fasteners. Where did you purchase them?

Those appear to be BMW part numbers - here is a link to a dealer for the first PN but your local BMW should be able to get these.

Just do a google search of each part #, you should see multiple links from dealerships, ECS, Turner, even ebay.

I got lucky and seller had the hardware included with the storage box, so I didn't have to order these parts separately, but other members have confirmed these are the correct part #'s.

Hi folks,

So I received the part. It came with the two self tapping screws for the top part.

For the screw that attaches at the end of the box…it’s just one screw, right?

And the little tab at the end of the box, mine has a bend to it..it sticks out from the back of the box. Is this normal?

Yes, just one screw attaches the back of the box. You can see the threaded nut in first pic and the screw installed in second pic.

Can you attached a picture of tab you’re referring to?
