G87 Downpipes no CEL?

Just curious on what yall are running for downpipes , I’ve seen some forums say that they are running 200cell DPs and no check engine lights , seen others say 200’s will produce a check engine light so getting conflicting feedback.

Nice , look like they are on sale right now ,

You still notice a big improvement over the OEM DP?s , since the 400 cell AA?s are not full ?catless? ?
Worth the investment?

Correct, these are not careless. Was worth it for me since I didn?t want the smell of a catless down pipe. I didn?t want the interior cabin to be overwhelming but wanted the added performance and a little aggressive exhaust tone.

i feel the same way, thats why when i want to upgrade the downpipes, i get high flow catted instead of catless

The DPs that do not create a CEL with a reduced cell count, do so because the cells and the substrate materials, namely palladium/platinum, are in more robust, so they can offset the lower cell count.

These are also more expensive on average. But if you’re going to keep cats gets ones tha actually work. If you’re getting a CEL that cats aren’t up to task.

I honestly do not understand people who remove cats on street cars. It’s illegal and needlessly pollutes the environment.

For what - 10HP? Anyone who says they can feel a 10-15HP difference in 500HP car is full of crap.

Agreed with this 150%, not to mention the ones that do offer a no CEL guarantee, its only for 2 years. Makes no sense for a street car. However, to the OP, its hit or miss with the CEL Fix 02 extenders. Some it works great, some it didn't work for. Its not consistent. I don't think there would be damage to the engine. However, generally the rear 02 sensors are there to test for catalytic converter health and efficiency. Modern cars are starting to use the rear 02 sensors to fine tune fuel trim.

That’s been the case for awhile - at least with Honda.
Used to be tuners would set the car into “open loop” so that the O2 sensor would measure Stoic, but not adjust the table.

If you run a static tune - I can see why people might do this on a race car but for a street application where you likely going to get fuel from different sources for example, you really should keep the cats and allow the computer to fine tune A/F.

The warranty is 2 years, which does not mean it will stop working in 2 years.

i have the active autowerke downpipe on my 2015 335, and it's still working perfectly and the car is well in its 100k miles

i still think a no CEL downpipe is the most reliable and best solution for upgrading the downpipe without the headaches

I understand the warranty is 2 yrs. but the warranty coverage on the no CEL guarantee is a no go for me.

Our no CEL downpipes come with a 2 year warranty with unlimited mileage. Some other brands include a mileage limit in their warranty, so that’s something to keep in mind if you drive your car a lot.

As long as you keep your burble settings at a reasonable level, you should be able to run them CEL free for years to come.

You could apply that logic to almost anything with a limited warranty cars, refrigerators, phones, etc. It doesn’t mean the product will fail right after the warranty ends it just means that’s the timeframe the manufacturer guarantees coverage.

I had a friend who owned a home appliance shop. The business wasn’t doing well, but he offered some of the best warranties. He would give insanely long warranties just to close a sale, and his thinking was that the better the warranty, the worse the business is doing. Especially when you know the shop probably won’t even be around in a few years to honor it anyway

That makes sense. I can also see how people would question it either way.
