Unhappy Active Autowerke G87 M2 EL Midpipe / Axelback

Just had my Active Autowerke Equal Length Midpipe and Axle Back installed on my 2025 G87 M2 after reading all the glowing reviews, and I’m honestly pretty disappointed. The fitment is pretty poor - clearances are way off in multiple areas.

The system was installed by a reputable performance specialist who has worked with Active before, and they spent a lot of time trying to get it to sit correctly. Even then, it’s still not right. I purchased the setup through XPH.

Has anyone else run into similar fitment issues with the EL midpipe or axle back? Any insight or experiences would be really appreciated.

im sorry to hear that. If you believe the system may be defective, the best next step would be to contact our support team so we can open a warranty claim

Since we are an authorized Active Autowerke dealer, you can also reach out to Active Autowerke directly, and they will be able to assist you

I agree with Mike. Mine has perfect fitment. (Granted mine is the original v1). Your’s doesn’t look right at all.

Thanks Mike - I’ve gone ahead and done that. Just super strange it fitted so poorly. Got some feedback from the workshop as well below.

Do you think this’ll be problematic if I wanted to do a downpipe upgrade down the track?

<><>

Feedback from the installer:

- LHS resonator sits up on an angle, no way of adjusting
- LHS mount @ this resonator wants to sit twisted and very close together
- LHS of system sits up / twists up through the mid section due to poor rear end link pipe fitment
- LHS Link pipe and hanger poor fitment - hanger sits back and pipe is very close to crossmember and diff no matter what adjustment is done - we have done best for all clearance
- It may touch lightly as system grows
- RHS link pipe to rear muffler also sits at a poor angle to slip join

I’m looking to pick a V2 resonated midpipe up soon, curious to see if this is a one off issue or if other people are having some fitment problems as well. From what I saw it looked like AA has excellent fitment normally.

That looks a downright mess. Those things are made in a jig , so doubt another would be better.
I’d just get my money back and try a better brand ?

Hundreds of v2’s?
I’m in the boat of wanting to buy other this CSZ or RES.
I would go AA and pay the price for it ONLY because for that much money it should be spot on.
Looking to see how this plays out and what actually happens for the system to fit so poorly

Update - XPH put me in touch with Active Autowerke. I've just sent off an email to AA with my installer cc'd. They asked me to swap the link pipes around to the axle back (because apparently left / right are different?). Of course my installer already attempted this. After some driving the pipes have expanded and there is rattling now unfortunately. Very unimpressed for the money I paid and hopefully there is a solution at the end of this saga.

On the upside it sounds awesome when it isn't rattling my entire car!

That’s unfortunate and also the metal “expands”?
That’s a hell of a lot of expansion - sounds like really cheap steal to me.

It’s really strange what’s going on with your exhaust. I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with this brand. Like I’ve said, mine is perfect and not a single rattle.

You said your performance shop has worked with AA before. Did they say if they ever had a problem with them in the past?

Unfortunately your case sounds like a one off. I would be mad too but it would be nice to get a replacement from them to see if that solved the issue and it really was a “faulty” piece.

+1

not sure what is going on here, its either a defective part or a bad install

please keep us updated on how active autowerke proceed with this issue

Update: after some back and forth with Active, it turns out there was a labelling issue with my link pipes to differentiate left from right. Active sent me a detailed image with correct labelling and instructions to tell left from right as they are more or less identical to the eye. Installer was able to adjust with the help of Active.

Sounds mean but not obnoxious, definitely more burbles and louder. Incredible when the car downshifts. Next step Fabspeed catted downpipe.
