More canDO Valve Controller features? Come on!

Hello again!

After last week's update, we didn't stop there — another feature is on the way for the canDO Valve Controller.

You'll now be able to define zones on a map and have the valves automatically adjust as you enter or leave a zone.

Whether it's keeping things quieter around home or opening things up once you're out, it all happens in the background — no need to touch the app.

This will be included in the next firmware update, as always free for current owners. Feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions!

Sweet!

Can your next update determine where all the Polizei are and adjust my speed accordingly? I really have a hard time driving this car anywhere near the speed limit.

That'd be nice :-)

But, did you know you can use your BMW key to control your valves with the canDO Bundle, and have been able to do so since the initial release of our controller a year ago? That and many other possibilities!

Here, from one of our early adopters:

The “LIM” button is has that function where it uses GPS to double click the limiter to not go passed the speed the posted speed limit.

I use it - a lot.🙂

All we would need is a trigger that could be set to automatically to kick it on.

The latest version of the app which supports these cool new features was released earlier today, along with the updated valve controller firmware.

Once downloaded, the app will notify you that the controller can be updated.

Have fun!

I’m doing my installation around the 16th. Does this change anything from me or do I still need to reach out?

Hi Stin6er

installed as planned, do contact us afterwards to update your canDO+. You can perform the valve controller update during the install.

In many ways the "computerification" of cars has really sucked, but then something like this reminds me that change isn't always a bad thing. A very cool product with a growing list of cool features!

With this update, is it possible to set “Quite Mode” on start up at home only? 100% everywhere else.

Hah, not a case we anticipated, but easily added.

Currently, Quiet Mode overrides all other settings, before zones are evaluated. Since we're working on an update, we'll rethink the approach to allow what you suggest.

If you have other suggestions, we're open!

Alright, we've given this some thought.

The only way to guarantee a quiet start at home is to store the preference in the valve controller itself (as it is today), so that if you don't have your phone with you, quiet start will be enforced for 30 seconds no matter your location.

Also, this has the advantage of there being no delay where valves might be 100% until the phone connects and informs the controller of your location.

So what we're thinking is to add a Quiet Start preference for every zone (and "outside zone" like it is today). If ANY one of those is set, the controller will default to quiet start. What happens next depends on your location: as soon as your phone connects, it checks the zone for its state. If it's not a quiet zone, if switches to the preferred setting for the zone.

There shouldn't be too long a delay between device start and phone connection.

Thoughts?

Seems like it would be a useful option for some as I would imagine most people are concerned about having quite start at home. Would the controller still be able to function the way it does if no zones are used. For example selecting Quite Start and having it activate at every start up regardless if you have your phone with you? The reliability of the current method is also very appealing. Adding phone connection speed, geo fencing etc has the potential to have inconsistencies.

Yes, exactly as you describe. If there is at least ONE Quiet Start zone, the controller will remember that if the phone is not connected or out of reach.

We've combined it with another user request that makes tons of sense:

Enable Quiet Start only between certain hours of the day. So ANY zone will be able to set Quiet Start, at whatever time is required.

Check it out, it's already taking shape!
