How to know if DSC or DTC are atually working

hi,

How do I know if my DSC or DTC are functioning correctly? Do they show something or make a beep when they kick in? I want to know because I feel that mine are not working as I expect. I slid during the rain ona turn really badly (oversteer) and I thought it was rain..i did have DTC and DSC on...

Second time was on dry road....car just oversteered...DSC and DTC were also one (I put DTC to show off to my friends how it works...).

On the 05 mustang ( I had for a very very little time), when DTC would kick in..i can feel the gas get cutt off and the car slows down...it was terrible of course, I hope the BMW DTC is not like that...but atleast the stang gave me a warning indicator telling me that DTC kicked in.....

I am also curious because someone mentioned that he returned his car because his DSC wasn;t working....how did they know? Error msgs?

Thanks
Skimo

You see the DTC light flashing in the dashboard when it is functioning correctly. Als you will notice a slight power off for a moment or so.

When itr's raining it's more obvious Skimo then when it's dry.

The 330 has power enough to make DSC working overtime

Put some power on in a slow bend in1st/2nd gear if traffic makes it possible and you will notice it definitely(look at your dashboard)

Take care

Remember DSC cannot break the laws of physics.

If none of your whels have grip ( like aquaplaning ) it can do nothing

Yes, believe it or not Mustangs DO have traction control nowadays.

And just incase you didn't know, DSC is always on when you start the car. Pressing the button (and having it light up onthe dash) means that its off. So don't press the button if you want to activate it

They have traction control, but no stability control, which is my #1 complaint about the new Mustang.

I have activated the traction control in my 325i by making a right turn from a stop on an uphill grade. The engine power cuts out for a split second, and the light on the dash activates. It seemed rather proactive, as I never heard a tire spin.

What I was trying to get at, is the usage of the DTC acronym...DTC is still a yaw-based traction control system, even though it allows moderate amounts of wheelspin.

Only the GT Deluxe and GT Premium V8 Mustangs come with Traction Control and it would be more comparable to BMW's Anti-Slip Control (ASC).

When I push the button....DTC comes on ( I see a big DTC on dash)...and DSC remains on...if I hold the button for > 5 secs...then DSC and DTC both go off...isnt that the case?

When I tested, i had the big DTC appear on the dash...

From what I know. The case is DSC is always on. When you push the DTC button, and DTC lights up, you no longer have stability control...you have traction control. When you hold it, both the traction and stability control turns off

NO, the opposite Pressing the button turns them off, if you see the light on your dash that means its off. Basicly just get in the car and turn it on, and both systems are ON. Then go and try to do a power slide and you will feel the engine hold you back and the wheels braking, and the light on the dash will blink, when its blinking that means its working.

Ahhh...makes sense...I always push the button when it rains and guess what....i am a pro figure 8 skater !! (driver...) . The manual tricked me !

i copy pasted this from the manual: This is where I was fooled...
Activating DTC
Briefly press the button; the DTC indicator
lamps in the instrument cluster come on.
Deactivating DTC again
Press the button again; the DTC indicator
lamps in the instrument cluster go out.

I thought by doing this, both DTC AND DSC are on...I just figured out that this is not possible (same system ! different algorithims !)

Thanks guys ! Its actually dull and rainy outside this morning...time to go test drive !
