AMS Porsche build....2300lbs and 456 whp!!
As some of you might know, over the course of the last 12 months we've been working on a number of different vehicle project builds and competitions here at AMS Performance. Such projects include:
The Bonneville EVO build The Blue Demon EVO build The AMS Drag EVO replica build The 10 week Road Race EVO X build The Fireball Run 2 Transcontinental Rally The Sport Compact Car Magazine Ultimate Street Car Challenge The Castrol Syntec Top Shop Challenge The AMS Unlimited AWD Time Attack EVO X build Last but not least the success of the AMS racing program, which in 2008 earned 40 st place finished in various forms of motorsports In addition to all of the above and the day to day operations ( including new product development), we've also have been working on another very intense vehicle build which we have somewhat kept under wraps until now. This particular car is a 1984 Porsche Carrera which belongs to a very good friend of the shop. Originally the car was equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.2L engine which we transformed into a 3.3L turbocharged power plant. The goal was to build a very capable track car which could also be very easily driven on the street and with 465 RWHP ( pump gas) and weighing 2,300 lbs I think we've achieved just that. So without any further adieu here are some pics of the buildup process of the car(did I mention the wide body and the 17x14 wheels?) Shortly after the car arrived here @ AMS and the motor was pulled The engine as it came out of the car Justin welding in rear strut tower supports Motor back in the car After a short trip to the body shop where the work on the widebody has begun… the ams custom fuel system making its way onto the engine. 335 FTW! 17x14 goodness! Justin installing the RSR Rebel Racing Swaybars the ams hydraulic clutch conversion Justin also fabbed up a custom oil cooler and front brake cooling ducts (the black ducts behind the oil cooler) Chris black wiring the fuel system and the DTA fast stand alone engine management system A shot of the engine bay with all the spaghetti Little bit more wiring progress Fuel safe fuel cell Intercooler back on almost ready to tune The RSR Wide Body kit on the car A shot of the interior ( on the dyno ready to go) Chris Black doing his thing The car running on the dyno And the final result! Dyno video coming soon! The obligatory rear lip picture! That's a 6 inch NOS Energy Drink can!!! Now that the engine is all sorted Porsche will be going back to the body shop within the next few weeks for finishing touches and to get the rest of the wide body kit installed including the UBER cool rear engine cover deck lid! I will post more when it comes back! |

I hope you'll mold those fenders to the body. The bolt on look just wouldn't look right when everything is said and done.
Awesome build BTW!
