Is it possible to get angel eyes to turn on when I unlock...

I'm not sure if any one knows, but on mercedes benz - when you unlock you can get your parking lights and fog lights to turn on.

I wonder if it's possible (maybe a dealer setting?) for my angel eyes to come on when I unlock the car? That would REALLY be helpfull to me, as there is a bit of a dark passage to walk to by my car?!!

I don't think you can do it, but I thought i'd ask anyways!

Speaking of which is it possible to have the foglights come on automatically with the headlights instead of manually turning them on everytime.

For Audi we have this option called "Coming and Leaving Home" function. Once turned on when locking and unlocking the car our daytime running light will turn and stay on until you open the door or 30secs which ever comes first. haha I get tons of "hey, you left your lights on."

I would be suprised that the 3er don't have this option.

Maybe like kronzprinz said you might need to turn that on via iDrive or something, but I'm sure you can probably get the dealer to do that for you, it shouldn't be hard. We have VAG-Com for VW/Audi cars to tune those kind of things and I'm sure MB and BMW would have something similar!

I used to havve my aftermarket angel eyes wired to my interior lights in my e46 so they would turn on whenever i lock or unlcock the car.

I know this function, i want the lights to turn on when I UNLOCK the car...ie when I am walking towards my car. I tested it, the angel eyes give off sufficient light for my purposes, but I suppose angel eyes and fogs would work well too!

I looked everywhere through the idrive menu and was unable to locate anything for this feature... if it is possible it looks like it will be a trip to the service department...

I don't think BMWs have this feature (yet). Never heard or read any of it, and I've read both the US and the German user manual from cover to cover. You'll have to contend with the lights in the door handles to light up your sorroundings.

I don't have lights in the door handles. I skipped it, because I thought the extra money (here you need to order it as an extended lights package) was a waste because I was getting comfort access. :=/

It's just a software thing. I know this because my angel eyes stay on when i turn the car off until I open the drivers door. NOw can't they just be programmed to say on until I lock the doors? and then turn on again when I unlock them?

I bet you also can't get them to program the left rear window to go up and down, then honk 4 times, then have the wipers go 2 times every time you lock/unlock

Just because it's a BMW doesn't mean the dealer can program it to do whatever you want

Maybe the factory could program it?

I'm not saying the dealer can program it, I'm saying it is something that if their software was written to do so - it could be programmed. That whole car is running on computer. From the windows to the started button.

Set your headligts to the automatic position. (turn it to the left)

When you unlock your car the angel eyes will turn on.
