Teddy`s (SSDD Motorsport) just posted these pics up on BMWLand and the fit looks superb.

Does this work:
I'm not sure I like it, it makes the car look like a 1-series coupe from behind.

Have to say the jurys out for me on this mod - i think it looks awsome and works perfectly well on the one and only E46 M3 CSL but not sure whether it transfers the same on the lines of the E92. That said it looks great in white with the carbon fibre showing on the lip of the duck tail - so i am still tempted and may very well consider after ive completed all my other mods on the list!!!

I think it's great. Do you buy the bootlid complete - thus allowing you to restore the car to standard?

It's the shape I like, not particularly the fact it's carbon fibre as, like the car in the pictures, I would want mine body colour.

Looks good i think. Suits E46 more though.
Thing is th game has moved on, its like people sticking with those really old skool AC rims. People cant let go.

Looks 'ok' IMO
Not sure about the shut lines (especially on the close up pic 4) - they just look too wide compared to the snug fit of the std. bootlid. Looks nicer from a distance but not so great close up. OK on a cheaper car but not £40-50k worth of M3? |

Now you mentioned it; its a big gap. Either they have not fitted it correctly, or if the product is that way, then it will look pretty bad.

Seriously though, if the panel gaps are that wide it won't do the car justice IMO |

ummm, well spotted - there is definitely a bigger gap on the left (looking at pics) than the right - so fitment is obviously an issue - and that sort of thing would really annoy me!!

Yes the fitment isn't the best but then look at what Teddy is supplying them for. It's alot of carbon / fibre flass panel for the money. Spend more money on say a Vorsteiner item and you'll have near perfect shut lines.
We are getting some made for the E92's which should have factory fitment quality.....will be a few extra bob over the SSDD item.....but we all know quality comes at a price. We have supplied CSL bootlids ourselves and while the pictures may not do them justice all the time, in real life they look stunning on the E92. |

I think something like this would suit the e93... I always felt it was lacking something from behind... ?

TBH Sal I`ve always found the fit of the Vorsteiner stuff very touch and go. Some are OK (not factory perfect) and some are just plain awful. I cancelled a double sided C/F bonnet as the fit was soo bad and the bumpers are a joke. You do get what you pay for in most cases but sometimes, paying more just means you get your pants pulled down harder.

Which car was that on Mike?
I do to some degree agree with you on your last statement...... you can have your pants pulled down for something as simple as a brand name. That happens in pretty much every consumer area. We are just looking at getting our BMW range of carbon parts made here in the UK by to avoid fitment issues and near perfect fitment. The only real way to control quality is to have the factory at your doorstep. I'll post some pics up pics from other projects. |
