Hi Guys

Made a few enquires today about selling my car to stealers. (Need $ for house)

First offer was 21.5k - which I thought wasn't too offensive. I have more offers coming in soon, and most dealer buyers sound KEEN!. Might be able to play off against each other and maybe get 22.5k-23k. Not convinced about private route as I don't want to get scammed. (Edit if I do - I would not accept less than 25.5k)

Car is Black E92 335i msport Auto May 2007, 13.5k miles.
Pro Nav, Red leather, USB, Bluetooth, Dark poplar wood, 225m's 19", folding mirrors, front sensors. heated seats

Guy inspected the car, and didn't clock that I have pretty much brand new non-rft's on the car. (Eagle F1 assims) will 95% of thred remaining.

I have the original brigestones in my shed, the prob is that the rears are looking rather feathered on the rear but the fronts are fab (one is brand new and the other has +6mm)

1. Do I replace the new goodyears with the Brigestone RFT's? and flog the goodyears here. Or should I just leave them on there? A few dealers mentioned tyres were key in terms of thread left. But I am concerned about the RFT stance of BMW and future issues. Also if they say the rears need replacing I could try and source some second hand rears from fleebay or e90post classifieds

2. Do I take out my L7 tweeters, plus THA275 in boot? Its going take me a day to get this out or leave in.

Take a look at one of the Bridgestones rears before I put them in shed.

Cheers! PS if anyone here is interested in the car PM me.

Remove the sound setup as it won't add to the price you get and sell it seperately.

The tyres I would just leave them or if they want new tyres for a very good offer then replace with normal tyres.

Have you considered selling it through a local (non-BMW) dealer. This is second hand info but it is reliable. A friend of mine did this with a VW Golf about a year ago. Basically the car was retailing at £12k and the highest offer he got was £9k. He popped down to a dealer and asked if he could sell it through his forecourt. They came to some sort of an agreement where the dealer got about 700 quid for doing very little and the car went for 11.5K

Given the current economic climate independents may be more receptive to this sort of thing

dazzapb....

I put on a new set of 4 cheap non RFTs just to sell, along with 2 cans of tyre weld in the boot. New tyres are a real bonus when selling - its something typically tight-arsed English people love. Car could be shite - but 'oooh look love its got new tyres'..... (my father in law is in the trade)

BTW - There is no requirement to use RFTs, BMW couldn't give a toss. M cars don't use em!!

I sold my 330i private in the autotrader - got 15k instead of dealer offered 10k. You can't get scammed unless you are stupid. You get all the money before they get the car, simple. Don't let them drive or sit in it with the keys. Don't meet buyers on your own.

It was worth 2 hours work for 5 grand for me.

thanks doughboy. Got offered 23300 today after a bit of a bidding war.

I think thats a good deal from a stealer. As regards the tyres - Dealer is inspecting it tomorrow - you think it will go against me? and in the future? I will leave a can of tyre weld in the boot to be nice

Dealer told me they won't sell a car on their forecourt with less than 5mm all round.

I'm sure they'll try and reduce the offer, that's why I put a £400 set of Falken non RFTs on, instead of people trying to say it needed £850 worth of PS2 RFTs.

Good luck! :-)
