Attention Skaterboarders - Looking for Opinions on Gear
Well I'm looking to get into skateboarding during the snow off season. I'm a fairly good snowboarder, can handle speeds and decent sized jumps and box/rail riding and I want to get some off season skateboarding in hoping to improve my park riding for next season.
So my question is, what size skatebaord should I get? I'm about 5'6 and 160lbs so from searching the net, it seems its recommended to get a 31.5 or 32. I'll be focusing on tricks only so not really looking for a long board. Also what brand of skateboard, trucks, wheels should I get? Ideally, looking for a good fun setup that won't break my bank. Thanks in advance. |

First off you can pick up everything at ccs.com
Get any deck you want. I'd go with a Blind deck, Reds Abec-6 bearings (Amazing for price) Venture low-trucks any wheels you want. |

just roll by your local skate shop, they should be more than willing to help you find the right gear. I never liked buying my decks online. IMO you need to get a feel for it before you buy it. That said, ive always been partial to blank decks. All the graphic is good for is an extra $30. Plus you wont look like so much of a newb on a blank. |

Flip Board Independent Trucks Ricta Wheels Black Bones swiss Bearings. But honestly its all the same. Just depends what you like. Some boards have different shape. Some trucks are lighter Some wheels are harder |

I second the comment on the blank decks - it's gonna get torn up, so why pay more.
Like everyone's said, go to your local shop, stand on a few decks to get an idea what shape/size you like. The width differences seem small till you actually have it under your feet. I haven't skated in 7+ years, but I liked Independent trucks. Not the lightest, but nice and strong. Oh, and BillLee - nice choice on the avatar

snowboarding and skateboarding, almost a different beast. biggest difference, feet arn't bind'd in skateboarding. if u ride pipe in snow, u may transition better to vert skat'n. and street skating is a whole nother thing. what u may have is good balance which will help with skateboarding. Spend good money on a skateboard. Dont' worry about breaking bank because u break bank already on snowboarding and driving a bmw. like some said, support ur local skateshop. have fun.
